    These wedges are durable plastic but cannot sustain hard direct hits with an axe or hammer. When cutting a 2 feet diameter fallen tree (with a hand saw?) it is essential to use a wedge so your saw won't bind, but using it as a splitter is not advised. After cutting 2/3 of the log, I got impatient with lack of progress and tried to use these wedges directly to force a break-through. The log finally separated using multiple wedges as a splitter but the force bent the bottom edge and pounding with an axe on the top of the wedge resulted in dents. However, these wedges are inexpensive and do a great job if used correctly. Also I got better results using a finer tooth saw over a course tooth saw with less binding.

    Works as expected, these wedges will help control the fall of the tree in the direction you have chosen. 3 or more wedged into a tree will force the tree to fall in the direction you have chosen in most cases. As always, you must remember, trees will surprise you and can kill or seriously hurt you.
