5.0 out of 5 stars Best gas can I've used
Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2024
No one likes the new gas cans that replaced the old ones that were simply a spout and an air vent. The new gas cans without the little yellow air vent cap were apparently mandated to prevent people from spilling gas. They of course have the opposite affect and gas is constantly spilled out of the new cans. This no-spill stens can however is the only one I've used that works and works well. If you do not like the "new" cans this one is the one you should get. So far it has lasted one mowing season in a professional landscaping/lawn mowing business and I expect it will last next season also. One thing to be careful of is to release the pressure before putting the spout into the gas tank. If you don't gas can shoot out fast and splash out of the tank and into your face. Every time you use it just make sure to squeeze the trigger before filling the mower/weed eater, etc. I highly recommend this gas can.

5.0 out of 5 stars Five-Star Gas Can With ONE GIANT CAVEAT
Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2014
This is a quality product with an innovative and secure main seal and pouring system. Top of its class in both of those respects. I don't think you can find a better poly fuel container under about $75, which is the going rate for those "mil-spec" Scepters on eBay (when you can find them). That said, there is one huge caveat to consider if you've got a sprayed-in bed liner, a tonneau top, and a "throw-and-go" mindset like me.

Here's the story: I used this thing to fill up a generator I was testing, and I secured the top as tightly as it would go before setting the can -- now half emptied -- into the bed of my truck with the rest of my tools. Since the can doesn't leak in ANY orientation, I didn't think or bother to cinch it down or stabilize it in any substantial way (as with bungee cords or the like). I simply closed me tonneau, put the tailgate up, and went on my way for a couple of days.

Then, I notice a strong gasoline smell coming from the back of my truck. I figured that some gas had dribbled out of the mouth or spout and was stinking up the joint. That was correct. But the smell was nothing compared to the damage the spilled gas did to my bed liner -- it totally stripped it off the bed itself! I assume it was able to soak into the sprayed-on liner because the closed tonneau prevented rapid evaporation. So much for "heavy duty," I guess. Still, that part is my fault (or my truck dealer's, for using a cheap product). Nevertheless, I wanted to see if the can was at all to blame, so I inspected it to try to find the leaky spot. Of course, the can was bone dry on the outside, and it wouldn't leak its contents no matter how I held and shook it. So I got to thinking, and I decided that something else in the bed must have wedged up against the can's push button and released some gas into the nozzle. The nozzle still had its cap on, by the way. So I pushed the button, and the nozzle filled up. I set it on its side, but the gas stayed put. Then, I tilted the whole thing upside down -- with the gas still suspended in the nozzle -- and all of it came spilling out the back side, around the actual push button (which was no longer depressed). Mystery solved. I wouldn't call it a design flaw, either. It's simply a limitation of the nature of the product itself.

So, if you have a crummy dealership-installed spray-in bed liner and no cinches for your gas can, you might do some costly -- but fixable -- damage to your ride. I am not certain that the tonneau played a significant part, but it may have. So, consider your habits and your usage scenario, and don't make the same mistake I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gas Can

So much easier to use than a traditional gas can. No muss, no fuss, no spills, easy to dispense. I use this smaller size for my 2-cycle mix. Superb value!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2013
I just recently received this gas can and couldn't wait to test it so I filled it with water instead of gasoline to confirm that the mfr claims are true.

It does work as shown in the mfr video -- for the most part. Initially, the push button mechanism was sticking. When I released it to stop the flow, water continued to pour out. Once I operated the push button a few times it began to retract all the way and the valve sealed tightly.

Then I tested the auto shut-off feature. It works, but the flow of water did not stop immediately. As another reviewer pointed out, vacuum must build up inside the can first. I was filling a 16 oz. jar and the level ended up being about 3/4" above the level of the end of the nozzle. I had to hold the nozzle down at least 1" below the top of the jar so it wouldn't overflow. As long as the user holds the can so that the nozzle is well inside the tank it should work well.

Finally, I had to try a tall shot glass, like they did in the video. The push button shuts off the flow quickly enough to accurately fill the shot glass, but the auto shut-off isn't fast enough. Water poured over the top of the glass for 2-3 seconds before the flow stopped. It may not work for small fuel tanks (leaf blowers, chain saws, etc).

Bottom line -- it doesn't leak, the cap has an o-ring to seal it, the push button valve works well (after the initial sticking problem cleared up), and the auto shut-off feature is useful for larger tanks where it doesn't need to work instantly. The plastic is thicker than most and the molding is high quality. The threads are clean and smooth and the surface where the o-ring seals is finished well.

I'm giving it 4 stars because of the sticking push button assembly. It is working now, but it feels cheap and doesn't fill me with confidence. The rest of the can appears to be solid.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality Gas Can
Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2024
This is a very good quality gas can. The best feature is the filling spout. When you insert the spout into the tank (as opposed to using a funnel), the fuel flow will stop once the level in the tank reaches the bottom of the fill spout. Nice not to need a funnel, and much safer as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best pouring nozzle that I've had.
Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2024
I've had problems with some of my previous gas cans. Either they'd have a hard time pouring the gas smoothly, while letting the air in. With this can, I've been able to fill my mower easily, with no overfilling or spilling.
