5.0 out of 5 stars Far superior to traditional ply + wire spring traps
Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2024
Prior to using these I had bought a 2 pack of the traditional looking traps for something like $3-5.
Those worked well. If you've used them, they will go off 9 times out of 10 if you set them down anything but incredibly delicately. They also lasted about 3 uses each before the staples holding them together pulled out and I replaced them with these traps. These traps don't go off nearly as readily. A review below mentions that has allowed a mouse to get the bait without triggering the trap. In 2 about 2 weeks with 3 traps out... I haven't had this issue. I actually had that issue twice with traditional traps as the mouse learned how to reach in from the side and get the bait without touching the pressure plate... so far that hasn't happened with these... but the mice ARE far far more hesitant around these traps. Traditional traps I got 2 mice day 1. These traps took almost a week before I started catching.

    Pros:
Kills the mouse (none found alive yet)
Easy to bait, set and place with your fingers out of the way. Doesn't go off by accident as easily as the traditional spring traps do.
Costs about the same as the cheap traps ($3+ for 2 vs ~$10 for six) while being far better made.
I doubt these will break until the spring wears out... which I'd expect will be dozens if not hundreds of uses. These are built like tanks.

    Cons:
Mice more skittish around these vs traditional snap traps. It will take a few days for them to get used to them/comfortable enough to get trapped.

Overall, I'd highly recommend. Far easier and less annoying to set these vs traditional traps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works well, easy to set, good value; good alternative to Tomcat brand
Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2024
I normally use the Tomcat brand traps but the price on those has gone through the roof (at least on Amazon). I saw that these had a very similar design so I gave them a shot. I've been very satisfied with their performance.

The build quality is about the same as the Tomcat. It's all plastic (except for the spring) so while a trap can be reused a few times, eventually the plastic gives way and it fails to set or trigger. But, I usually get at least four catches before the trap gives out.

Operationally these work the same as the Tomcat. A very quick kill without any mess (unlike the old school bail wire traps). One feature these have that the Tomcat lacks is the removable bait cup. It works well and makes baiting the trap with peanut butter easier.

No complaints -- they work as well as the Tomcat and provide the same service life, but at a much better price. Five stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ingenious ConTRAPtion

Cheap & effective with some well thought out design innovations for mouse control. I had purchased several similar traps a year ago and found them lacking to the point where I had to modify them slightly to make them usable. These mouse traps already have my modifications and more. The first thing one should do is tie a string to the loop on the back of these traps and secure the other end of the string to something, Why? Because these little traps don’t necessarily kill the rodent on every catch and, since they are very lite, the mouse can drag them off if they aren’t killed right away. The traps have a very small, temovable bate cup which can be cleaned and refilled as needed (peanut butter seems to work very well). The critter can easily be removed without touching the mouse. The trio device is extremely sensitive but this occasionally results in the mouse being caught by the leg rather than having the trap close on the head/neck killing it instantly. Overall, a pretty good mouse trap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked the first night

I was disgusted to find mouse droppings in a cupboard of the house I recently bought and moved into. I immediately came to Amazon to order traps of some type. I saw the kind that traps the mouse so you can just let it go in a field somewhere and not kill it. I ordered several of them because I just want it out of my house, I don’t necessarily want to kill the poor thing. I set all of them up and placed them inside all the lower cabinets in my kitchen and another along the baseboard. A week went by and not one mouse was captured.

I am now angry and willing to kill the little sucker. I don’t like having to wash everything in my cabinets before using the item. I set all of these traps up, varying the bait with the recommendations of a mini marshmallow, cheese, peanut butter, and I had a can of whole peanuts and decided to try a half of a peanut. I placed the traps in the same locations as the capture traps, which I left in place just in case. I really wanted this thing out of my house.

The next morning I was thrilled (and truthfully a little saddened) to find the mouse caught in the 1/2 peanut trap. These traps are so simple to fill and set without being afraid I will pinch my fingers when setting it. And I appreciated the fact that it is easy to release the dead mouse into a plastic bag for the trash without touching it. These are simple to use, simple to add the bait, and simple to release what you have caught. What more could anyone ask for in a mousetrap?

So my advice is not to bother with the kind of trap that captures the critter. I had put out several, all with different baits, and not a single one was tripped. They are being tossed in the trash. Get these kill traps instead. Yeah, it seems cruel, but it works and I won’t have to continually wash everything that I pull out of the cabinets anymore. Well, after I empty everything and do a good sanitizing first.

5.0 out of 5 stars They do the job!

I first used the humane traps, but the mice were smarter than me. They figured out how to get the cheese and escape in order to steal more another day. They were getting more cheese than me. My humanity gone, I got these. I did find it pays to read directions carefully because I first put cheese in the main body of the trap when it’s supposed to go into the cap which screws back on into the main body, holding it securely so that it doesn’t fall out. I then found it easy to bait, easy to set, and easy to dispose of the culprit stealing my cheese, and easy to clean and reload.
