5.0 out of 5 stars Best Orchid Potting Medium (also use on other plants)
Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2025
I use this exclusively with my orchids. Growing orchids in this is a no-brainer. It makes their care very easy. I water about once a week but I’d rather water more than have root-rot. This is a high quality mix but you can also add indoor potting soil to it easily for other plants, like I do with my Monsteras. This is really great for any plant needing more root aeration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super duper chunky mix
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2024
I really like the idea behind this mix. It has everything I love; from the charcoal to the chunky perlite, to the orchid bark. The only thing I’d change about this mix is the size of the bark. It’s overly chunky for what I use it for, which is adding it with soil for my indoor house plants. The price is amazing for the size of bag I received.
Please source a little smaller orchid bark and I’d be a lifetime customer!!

So many to choose from it’s hard to really decide which one to get. This was the right choice for sure. My orchids are doing very well. I’ll be purchasing again for sure

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the expensive brand!
Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2024
I had 2 older orchids that had bloomed off and on for several years. A couple of years ago, I bought an expensive brand of orchid soil and repotted both plants. Neither plant has bloomed since then. Both plants seemed pretty droopy. One was worse than the other. I tried changing their spot by the window and added a little fertilizer. Nothing worked. The weaker plant was starting to look like it was dying so I ordered Better-Gro Special Orchid mix. I repotted both plants. Wow. Within a couple of days I could see the difference! The weaker plant produced 2 new leaves by the end of the week. It has definitely brought them both back to life! Great product!

If my monstera loves it, then I love it. Added these bad boys into my soil mix and now she grew 4 new big fenestrated leaves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Be Better

While this orchid soil has a decent mix of materials for orchids, it has pretty large chunks. It doesn't seem to be made for plants that are medium size or less. The little amount of soil that can fit in a 5 inch liner is concerning. While using this soil, I noticed my plant's roots and this new soil were having a difficult time fitting into their larger 5 inch container. This soil's wood and charcoal needs to be smaller in the size. It stressed out my 2 orchids over a period of 3.5 weeks. All my orchids (roots and leaves) were in top shape before using this orchid soil. Now both have a lot of brown/black roots. See before and after photos. One is seemingly coming back, but the other isn't doing as good. The only one that seems to be okay after using this soil is the one in which I didn't remove the old soil from it's larger container. I just added this new soil to the wood planter. I think it could be a decent orchid soil if the chunks weren't so darn large. Bigger orchids may not experience any issues, but medium size or smaller orchids may be in for a rough adjustment. Time will tell if all will get back to the way they were before adding this soil.
