5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price if you just need USB from battery

Works well, although not efficiently, with 12v panels. It's easy to use although has no setting for Li batteries. I use one for 12v LiFeP battery and it works fine. You can set the voltage for charge and float. USB outlets control voltage at 5.1 v regardless of battery volts (anything from 10.5 to 14 on mine). Worth the price for the controlled USB voltage from a 12v battery.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, unintelligible I instructions
Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2024
The instructions are terrible. They lead one to believe this charge controller is ONLY for lead acid batteries. But they hint that lithium is also usable but do not explain how to change from b1 (lead) the default setting to b2 or b3 (lithium). Well I figured it out on my own so I canceled the return. To change to lithium b2 or b3, hit the menu button until the screen shows 'b1'. Then press menu and the "minus/down arrow" at the same time. This makes b1 flash and allows you to cycle through b1-b2-b3. So I set it on b3 (Li iron) which is my battery type

5.0 out of 5 stars Power system

I like the fact that it's the 30 amp. And it's going to fit good in my portable power system case that I'm building.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well built

Certainly! I apologize for the confusion. Here's a consolidated review with two paragraphs:

I recently acquired the 12V, 30 Amp solar charge controller as a backup for my primary system, and although I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, my initial impressions are positive. The controller appears to be well-made with a sturdy build, instilling confidence in its potential reliability. The straightforward installation process and user-friendly interface are welcoming, especially for someone like me who is still navigating the world of solar setups. I intend to pair it with a 25-watt solar panel and a lead-acid battery, and while the real-world test is pending, I'm optimistic about its performance based on its promising features and durable construction.

In anticipation of its application in my solar energy system, I appreciate the controller's thoughtful design and versatility. The ease of use and compatibility with various setups make it an attractive choice for both beginners and experienced users alike. I look forward to seeing how well it complements my solar panel and battery combination and believe it's a wise investment for those seeking a reliable backup or alternative solution for their solar charging needs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheap material. Broken out of box. USB current insufficient
Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2023
Erratic volt readings jumping between 17v and 13v. Load ON/OFF button (right button) does not work. Battery is a good flooded battery and type was set correctly at b3. USB port won't charge my 10 inch android pad. The "bolt" icon shows next to battery level but the pad keeps draining power. Detail screen still says "x h x min left". (it should be "charging - x h x min until full")

I have 2 other similar controllers I bought in 2019 and 2021. Neither of them have any problem. Before I threw this trash away, I took it apart and found: (1) its circuit board is much smaller than my older controllers although the outer shell has same size and color (2) it does not have a temperature sensor while my old ones have (3) its back plate is a piece of plastic while my old controllers have serrated aluminum.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice cheap replacement
Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2023
The 100A version works well for a cheap MPPT replacement until I can save up and buy another Schneider MPPT 60. This doesn't show up on my insight system but it can handle the load. It can handle up to 2800Watts, although it has taken more watts than it is rated for.
I am pleasantly surprised it works as well as it does. Value for money is 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Throw the instructions out
Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2023
It works, works great but the directions or the tiny little instructions that come with it are worthless and not in order. You can figure it out yourself better. The voltages don't match with my Fluke VOM Meter but not that far off. I have it set up with 2 each 100 watt solar panels, 2 each 180 amp deep cycle batteries in a 12 volt parallel and charge 2 each 1000 watt solar generators, the shut down low voltage is 10.7 and 14.4 at high. It doesn't like to do both solar input to batteries and output to load at the same time causing it to jump around between low and high limit volts but you can set it to do each one separately where it works great. The 2 USB's work well and put out 2 volts. It works just as good as the $200 ones except it's sensitive , for the price it's well worth it.
