About this item

PRODUCT SPECS: 12 Pack of 1lb Bags (12 pounds total) of Aqua Org Plus calcium hypochlorite (pool shock). Bagged individually for easy measurement and use. Works in in-ground, above-ground pools, spas and hot tubs. 65% Cal Hypo Granules. Great for regular maintenance.
KEY FEATURES: Fast acting Aqua Org Plus calcium hypochlorite & professional-grade formula tackles algae blooms, restores water clarity, raises chlorine levels to eliminate unwanted contaminants. Professional formula trusted by pool maintenance experts. Solves 90% of pool water problems.
DIRECTIONS: Ensure the pool filter is running. Measure (1lb for 10,000 gallons of water) & pour Aqua Org Plus into water directly. Distribute evenly. Use a pool brush to ensure granules dissolve into the water and aren’t sitting on the bottom of the pool. Ensure proper circulation and avoid swimming until chlorine returns to 1-4 ppm.
BENEFITS: Non-stabilized Aqua Org Plus formula (no CYA’s) to prevent chlorine lock. Effective for all swimming pool types including pools with liners, gunite pools, and saltwater pool systems. Regular testing of pool water and maintenance are essential for optimal shock treatment results.
BEST PRACTICES: Keep Aqua Org Plus products out of reach of children. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Use in a well ventilated area. Store in a cool dry place, away from sunlight. Follow guidelines and usage instructions provided by the manufacturer. Do not add directly into the pool floater or skimmers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality at a great price!!

This shock dissolves quickly and doesn’t contain stabilizer which can lead to chlorine “lock”. Container can be difficult to open but not as difficult as some other chlorine containers I’ve had in the past. The really cool thing about this chlorine is that the granules are in a plastic bag within the buckets so you have two opportunities to ensure that the product stays dry and airtight. If you’re new to pools and chlorine, this is important! I made the mistake one year of not ensuring that the container (another brand) was not tightly closed (mainly because it was hard for me to open) and left it in my shed over the winter like that. HUGE mistake. When I went into the shed in the spring, the chlorine smell was AWFUL and worse than that, everything in the shed made of metal was totally corroded. Lesson learned $$$

Anyhow, to make reopening the bucket easier, I use the flat end of my corkscrew. Works like a charm. You could probably also use a paint can opener.

Price was EXCELLENT, delivery quick and the product works. Enjoy your pool!

1.0 out of 5 stars Do NOT Buy!! It will ruin your pool
Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2024
This stuff is awful. I have had pools for years ad have never had an issue like this. I bought the 12 pack of 1 lb bags. I added 1 -1lb bag to the pool. The granules are very large. It will not dissolve. Maybe there is some trace chlorine it, but I think it is contaminated with something else. The water is opaque milky white. I have been rinsing the filter twice a day and running the pump 24/7 for 4 days and the pool has barely improved. Now I can see the second from the top step on the ladder barely. We'll loose at least 2 weeks of pool use if not more and spend tons of time, money, and effort trying to correct this mess. I wish I had since the poor review on May 31 the same day I bought this. I don't know if their is a problem with just this batch or all of it. I do not understand how it has so many good reviews. The return for refund process is useless as the label provided is just an address form and not prepaid. It is barely worth paying the shipping for 11lbs back to them for the little bit of money I'll get back.

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked perfectly

The price seemed too good to be true, but I went for it anyway and it worked out perfectly! Sure, the bucket isn’t as easy to open as the one from the big name brand, but hey, I’ve got plenty of empty ones lying around. I used about 2 pounds, and my chlorine levels jumped from 0 to around 5. It dissolves super fast, and overall, I’m really happy with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good price but you get what you paid for!

I would like to echo the comments from most customers with the hacks to workaround the shortcomings.
1. Horrible lid and a badly designed tab that required heavy duty screw driver and piler to remove. It is worse than the driveway sealer bucket. Good hand exercise though!
2. The plastic bag inside the bucket to hold the chlorine shock corroded and broke into 2 pieces. There goes the moisture seal!
3. The lid is from the 19th century press seal type. It seals tight but very hard to open on a weekly use basis. Have a heavy duty screw driver handy to do some hand and finger exercise. I'm thinking about transferring all the shock powder to an empty bucket with a screw type lock lid for 21th century use.
4. There is no scoop inside the bucket. Again, save the old one or use an old measuring cup.
5. No mention of available chlorine on the label, the listing said 60%. So, use more since it is cheaper.
6. Probably no stabilizer in the shock, need to buy it separately! There goes the saving!
7. The sturdy wire handle may not be a bad thing, at least it won't break like the plastic one. Put a slit opened short PVC pipe on it or wear glove.
8. The shock dissolved quickly in a 3-gallon bucket of water than other famous brands I used before. It leaves almost no residue which is a good thing and won't hurt the liner as much.

Overall not a deal breaker but there are things for improvement going forward. Keep the price low, that's all it counts!

Great price for Hypochlorite Shock. Does not come with a scoop but I had a couple from other product purchases. The only down side is the top is not easy to remove and has already developed a crack. It is still secure. On another note, be careful when removing top. Hold your breath. Otherwise the Chlorine gas buildup will get you...I found out the hard way!

3.0 out of 5 stars Plastic bag inside the bucket had degraded, leaving small pieces of plastic mixed in
Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024
While it initially seemed promising, I encountered a couple of significant issues. After using it, the water became cloudy, which was disappointing since I expected clearer, cleaner water.

Additionally, I noticed that the plastic bag inside the bucket had degraded, leaving small pieces of plastic mixed in with the granules. This was frustrating and made me question the overall quality of the product.

Overall, while the strength of the shock is good, the cloudiness and plastic contamination were major drawbacks. I hope future batches improve on these aspects.

I received a bucket of chlorine shock that for some reason the interior plastic bag had deteriorated and the chlorine had the chlorine had moisture in it. I made a complaint through Amazon and the Pyrock Chemical (Aqua Org) contacted me immediately. Subsequently, they sent another bucket by FedEx. That is the old-fashioned customer service that you don't see too often. I have bought probably 5-6 buckets of chlorine before this and they were all great. When there was a problem the supplier, Pyrock Chemical (Aqua Org) stepped up. Good people to deal with.
