Installed this on my MTD Pro Single Stage 179cc. If you've never taken a carburetor off one of these machines, I suggest you watch a YouTube video on it. It's not hard, just a lot of disassembly. With that being said, once installed it purred like a kitten. We'll see how long it lasts, but for a third of the price as OEM.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save money. Just as good as the factory carb.

Can honestly say it wasn’t that easy but it was worth the time it takes.way cheaper than leaving it at a repair shop for a month.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Troy Bilt 2410 snowblower with 179cc motor (Model 31AS62N2711, 2010 - 2015)
Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2021
Troy Bilt 2410 Snowblower 179cc motor (Model 31AS62N2711) starts first pull and operates perfectly with this carburetor

Snowblower was at times hard to start and surging under 3/4 - full throttle. Required partial choke to even operate. An original Troy Bilt replacement carburetor is $70.59 (and backordered on the Troy Bilt website) . The OEM rebuild kit is $40.69, so decided to try this $13.88 carburetor from Amazon instead.

The carburetor came with all the accessories (gaskets, primer, and primer fuel line). I was appreciative of the replacement primer fuel line as the original (now seven years old) had completely degraded.

Not particularly handy with tools, but with the guidance of a youtube video was able to remove and install the new carburetor. The new carb fit perfectly, and the engine started with the first pull of the handle (didn't need the electric start anymore!). Runs smoothly at full throttle, no choke required other than for the initial start.

    One minor issue:

The hole for the choke linkage was too small and had to be opened with a power drill. This was easy to do (did not require any disassembly of the carburetor) and in fact I was able to do it while it was mounted on the snowblower. (Note the second picture which shows the required adjustment).

    Bottom line:

This substitution is a tremendous value, works perfectly; certainly won't hesitate to purchase again!

Bought a used snowblower from my wife's coworker because she had bought it new and very rarely used it. Unfortunately, the gas sat in it for years and the carburetor was a mess. Put this carburetor on with guidance from a couple of YouTube videos. Engine started on the second pull, no adjustments needed. Runs great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fit my 179cc Craftsman two stage with power more motor .
Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2021
This carb came as pictured with all items shown , fit 179cc power more motor 4 cycle on a two stage CRAFTSMAN/MTD . The carb fit perfectly and ran well , fixed the surging motor at high speed . I will say that the choke linkage hole in the choke plate had to be drilled out 2 sizes larger for original linkage to fit as others have stated . The gaskets for mounting the choke linkage plate did not fit , reused original ones , motor block to carb was correct . Hope this helps someone get the correct part . The motors now used are not the quality of the older motors , the carbs are very problematic due to emissions standards set forth many years ago .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great replacement part

I have a Craftsman 26" with the 208cc engine (MTD 270-QV), model 247.886940. This is my third season using it after buying it new and it has given me trouble both times I tried to start it up after storing it over the summer. Last time I had to replace the spark plug to fire it up. This time spark was fine (when removing the plug, shooting in a little carb cleaner and replacing the plug, it would start up for a second or two). However, the carburetor was not getting fuel to the engine. I took the bowl off and found it dry with the float stuck. After freeing up the float gas would flow through it and fill the bowl, but even after spraying it with carb cleaner and putting it back together it would still not run.

The carburetor is supposed to be part number 951-05251 but this one is identical, with one difference - the fitting for the fuel line points straight up on the original carburetor and is rotated 90 degrees on this one. (You can see this in the pictures.) Not sure if it can be rotated but I didn't want to take any chances. I got it to fit anyway, just had to make sure the fuel hose clamp wasn't in the way of the choke assembly. The gaskets that came with the new carburetor were fine, I just had to flip them around the right way.

Anyway, got it all back together and the snowblower fired right up, no adjustments needed. At this price I'm going to order a couple of spares so I'm prepared... also going to use ethanol-free gas and try using stabilizer over the summer to see if that works better.

By the way, MTD made this snowblower needlessly complicated to work on. To get the plastic piece with the primer bulb and ignition switch off, I had to get the throttle knob off. (In one of the YouTube videos I saw, there was a notch in the plastic so the knob didn't have to be removed, which was a better design.) I ended up cutting the knob with a Dremel so it could be removed. It's still pretty tight, I don't think it's going to fall off even with the cut I made. The choke knob came off with some coaxing but I could see how it might be easy to damage the choke hardware trying to remove it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect replacement carb for 2011 Craftsman 24 inch snowblower -179cc engine
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2021
This carburetor is a perfect OEM replacement for a Craftsman 24" snowblower model 247.88957, carburetor model no. 951-10974, Huyai 165S. I had purchased a different aftermarket model that said it worked great per reviews, thing surged worse then the 6yr old OEM carb original owner ran on regular 10% ethanol pump gas. I even tried the enlarging of the low-speed idle jet with micro-drill bits, no help.

This carburetor worked perfectly right out of the box, no adjustments needed!! I also set the valves while I had everything apart, new NGK spark plug, snowblower has been throwing snow beautifully this winter. There are video out there to walk you through removing the plastic shrouds surrounding this carburetor, it looks intimidating at first, just takes patience, paying extra attention to orientation of gaskets & connections to carb, taking pics helps the first time doing it. Good luck!
