I actually bought a pair for my husband but loved them so much I got this pair for myself. Works better than oven mitts. Although slightly big for my hands I still have better control than with oven mitts when removing heavy and hot baking pans and casserole dishes out of the oven.

They work ok for the griddle cooking I do. They will definitely not hold up to 1400 degrees. I got very hot fingers wiping down the griddle. They do add protection just don't expect them to protect your hands at temps above 400 degrees.

If you haven't invested in a pair of grilling gloves, they are sooooo helpful! These are great. They definitely protect your hands from cuts and heat. They are comfortable to wear and I've washed them in the washer. I lay them flat to dry in my dryer closet. The wrist length is just long enough to protect your wrist from heat as well. Would purchase these again. Having said all of this, I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. Concept is great but it's sold as one size fits all. More so made for med short hands. These work better for my wife.

I use these for my smoker so my pot holders don't smell like camp fire and they fit great (size large hand), have good flexibility in the fingers and still have good tactile feel while keeping heat out. I can pinch the meat probes or pick up a hot sheet pan and have no issues. Haven't tried washing them yet but they feel well constructed so I'm not too worried.

I bought a pair for my son and he liked them. So, I bought a pair for myself. They work fine for reaching over the hot surface of the grill for short periods of time (definitely longer than without the gloves). But, if you need to hold a meat thermometer over the hot surface for any period of time, the gloves quickly heat up and get too hot to handle. Just be aware that there may be better options if you plan to have your hands over the heat for more than several seconds.
