I have a dormer on the roof that has a tendency to create an ice dam. The sun melts the snow against the dormer and the water is trapped against the snow at the base of the dormer and backs up under the shingles. This rake was perfect to keep a path for the water to flow to the edge of the roof. It is definitel light weight and easy to use. It seems a bit flimsy because it is aluminum and very long handled. Once you drop it onto the roof it is sturdy enough to pull the snow off the roof and keep a clear path. It is easy to assemble and disassemble as needed. I've had mine now for two seasons and it works perfectly up in Door County Wisconsin which gets a fair annual snow fall. I am definitely satisfied with this purchase.

I have been using this same product for over 8 years. Been using it on our house in Leadville, CO (elevation 10,200ft). We get a lot of snow, and it works great. I would recommend this product. It is lighter than other roof rakes we have tried. I have learned not to try to move too much snow (i.e. If you have 2ft of snow, you take off 8"-10" at a time and it is real easy to get down to the rooftop very quickly. Don't wait until March/April to use it or the snow will have thawed/froze and may be too heavy. I like to "drop" it on the snow and it cuts right into the top crust. Customer service is great too. I needed some replacement hardware, emailed them, and they sent out a hardware kit to me for free. Awesome.

4.0 out of 5 stars It works but…. (update)

This is a handy tool to have if you get a load of free snow. If you have a load of snow that is wet with a crust you’re better off off with a shovel and rake as this will not cut thru it. I do suggest spraying the blade wit WD-40 so the snow slides off vs. sticking to the blade. We found that a jerking motion worked best. If you have all four poles attached and your older or out of shape you will get a slight workout. Overall the concept is good but again it needs stronger support arms. The two support arms weak at best and need to be stronger to support the impact when letting the tool drop onto the snow and pulling.

Had to add that I sent the company an email and their sending out replacement parts. So because of this I shall up it from 3 to 4 stars. The company sent me two handle connector rods vs. the support arms. I notified the company and they sent me a new complete rake. Their customer service is well above what one would have expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!!! Easy to use even with a bad back.

Our house has a dark roof, faces south and we get a lot of snow melting. We are prone to large ice dams every year, which will then have large ice sickles and this results in heavy ice on the stairs. I'm 60 years old and have a bad back, so using this was not an easy decision - but I had to try something. Much to my surprise, it's very easy to use. It comes with 4 extension poles. I only need to use three of them for my roof. I've used this four times now since I got it this past Dec and I am thrilled with it!

Snow comes off the roof with ease!!! It's easy to use for someone who is not in the best shape which really surprised me. I actually ENJOY using this roof rake. I can get 5'-6' up most of my roof line and no ice dams any more! I have a corner where two areas come together with a power line attaches to the house - where the ice dams are the worst.

Going near a power line with a long metal pole does not sound ideal. But I am able to carefully use this by placing on the roof edge and slowly and carefully lifting an edge and working back and around the pole keeping the roof rake 3'-4' well below the power line.

Once away from the power line, I can do the rest of the roof with ease and my whole roof takes me maybe 25 minutes - my house is a standard sized 50's split level 4 bedroom home.

I have seen videos for the $150 roof rake that you push that has the plastic chute that looked really cool and I wanted to order that thinking it would be easier. The rake in this review is fantastic and my neighbor bought that other one the same week I got this one. I tried his and it was no easier than this one, I was thrilled I made the right choice.

I hate home repairs, snow removal, clearing leaves, etc. But I enjoy this roof rake - I think it's because I can do it and I have ice dam free. Trust me you won't regret it.
Love these shirts all three color. Very easy on and off loose fight for day and at night when you sleep in a chair. Will buy our.

Love the rollers on it. Work great on areas where you don’t get a lot of sun in snow season.

3.0 out of 5 stars great customer service, but the rake has problems

i bought this to help get snow off the roof. we had a snowpocalypse, with 3 feet of snow. and in alaska, you know there's more coming. it was a lot of snow, a lot of super heavy snow. i got halfway through the roof, and one of the support braces broke, then bent. i managed to finish most of the other half, though the other support brace also broke from the weight of the snow. i emailed them, as it was only my first day using it. they immediately sent me two new support braces free of charge. a week later, they sent me a whole new roof rake, free of charge. so now i have two. love the customer support!!!:). now all that stated, I used the new one once this year. Again w a lot of snow, a couple feet. one of the support braces broke within an hour. i managed to continue and finish the roof. but for the life of me i don't know why they use these cheap thin easily breakable support braces instead of two short pipes. despite the great customer service, i don't feel i can recommend it because of the thin cheap breaking support braces

5.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight and works

I bought this to replace my previous roof shovel that broke (different brand). I knew I wanted something lighter and easier to maneuver. This shovel is made of aluminum. It was quick and easy to assemble. Easy to lift up and get on the roof. And the wheels on the bottom of the blade made it easy to move up and down the roof.

I saw reviews stating the blade supports are weak and bend. I didn't experience this. Also, some said that it didn't work well on icy packed snow. Well, nothing works great with that kind of snow. I just get the snow off the roof when it's fresh and still light.

The roof rake is sturdy yet lightweight. The tool held up well and took 4 foot of snow off my cabin roof. The wheels on the rake help protect shingle or metal roofs.
