    I bought this for the B&S 1450 engine on my 12 year old Coleman Powermate 5000. It is almost identical to the original Nikki carb I needed to replace. I have two issues against it. Neither the control rod that was provided with it, nor the original rod, would fit into the hole on the new unit. I saw mention of this in other reviews. Why would you send a part you know doesn't fit. I solved the problem by carefully drilling out the existing hole in the plastic grommet, graduating in drill bit sizes, so as not to break the plastic. It fit, My other issue has to do with the choke handle. The handle that came attached was too long. But the kit came with a couple other handles. One that was almost identical to the original. But the handle did not fit snuggly on the top of the butterfly shaft. The original handle didn't fit snuggly on the new shaft, either. So I had to remove the entire choke assembly from the original carb and install it on the new. It fit. The new carb fit the engine perfectly. And the engine, which hadn't been run in two and a half years, started on the first pull. Viola! I live in the US Virgin Islands. We don't have stores that supply things like this. So when we order from off island we keep our fingers crossed that whatever we ordered is correct. Having this carburetor fit, albeit with minor modifications, and work is a relief. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Replaces the Nikki carb (#697978) also noted as a Nikki A20 carb

    B&S ENGINE model: 204412-0163E1 (10 hp / 1 cylinder)

    B&S GENERATOR model: 030253 (5500 watt) with above engine series.

    Direct fit, no modification. Comes with gaskets, spring, throttle link and spring, and a few choke levers that fit various applications.

    Once installed, the motor fired on one pull.

    I had to use the old choke plate from previous carburetor to get carb to choke. The holes in the choke plate that came with the new carb were too large and to allow an effective draw to choke the carb at startup. Transfer of old choke plate solved the problem.
