5.0 out of 5 stars Great price, durable product.

I was very pleased with how heavy duty these cans are, not lightweight like other gas cans I have purchased at this price. Love the second handle to help control the flow when pour fuel into machines. I know that the "safety" spouts will probably not last nearly as long as the rest of the can, but I can replace those. I expect these cans will last me a long time. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good containers but I would design the spout differently..

Good containers especially with the double handles top and side.

The spout though could use some work.

When you get the container the screw on cap needs to have the insert hole pushed out and removed. Not to hard to do so. The spout itself that now inserts into the cap is rater thin so it provides a slow gas flow. Could be doubled in diameter and the flow would be much better. The end of the spout has an O-Ring seal that works good to seal off the end so the little cap they provide for the end of the spout is not needed and I discarded. The red portion of the end of the spout needs to be held back for gas to flow. That can be difficult under some circumstances.

The red end does have a catch hook that will catch on the edge of a gas fill opening that will keep the spout open and flowing but I use to fill up my small generator which requires the end flow to be flush with where the gas goes so I must hold the red end back to keep the gas flowing. If a slight twist with a catch square was designed into it, then a slight twist would lock open and a reverse twist would release. Again, when flowing it is slow so doubling the circumference would solve that problem.

One good point is when the cap is firmly tightened, and the red end extended and in the closed position, that O-Ring attached to the internal shaft end seals real good so no leaks.

Overall I gave it a five star being a good container. The spout aspect they can fix. If I want the gas to flow well (quickly), I use one of my old spouts from a different container that I picked up 15-years ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars safety feature.

the only thing I dont like about these cans is the no spill safety feature. if you have problems of any kind with your hands the safety feature could be an issue. other than that they are quality cans.

I'll start with the cons. What I got, is not what's pictured (see photos). The ad shows model 5600 with a red nozzle and I received 5610 with a black nozzle. You have to wonder if any of Midwest's Engineers have ever filled a gas jug. The "Flame Shield Safety System℠" (white screen insert) is the most idiotic and unsafe feature I have ever encountered in a gas can, putting aside the geniuses in California and the US EPA. The modern EPA mandated gas pump will not allow the can to be filled with Midwest's EPA approved "Flame Shield Safety System" installed. It is impossible. The EPA nozzle at the pump thinks this gas can is full and shuts off automatically thinking the can is full. That said, let's move on to the nozzle of the gas can. You will need 2 people to fill your lawn tractor. It is impossible to fill it without spilling it all over the ground, or crops, in my case. You have to push in the red clip, hold back the spring loaded nozzle, lean the black tab that holds the nozzle and then gas will trickle out. There is not enough air flow in, to let the gas out. When you do the pour, gas goes all over the the place, albeit at a trickle. Supposedly, it allows less fumes to destroy our air, but gas goes all over the place, that will destroy our waterways and water tables. Again, the EPA has never used these ridiculous spouts. This is 100 percent EPA mandated and not the fault of Midwest. Expect to spend another $10 modifying the jug.

Now for the pros. The gas jug itself is a super thick plastic and built like a tank. After modifying it to my liking, it works like a gas can should. Expect to modify any brand gas can these days, but get one built like this one, sturdy.

The can is well made, easy to use, and hold a good capacity for the cost. I did have a minor issue with only one of my two cans being sent, however I contacted the seller and they quickly responded and got the can out to me in short order. I am very pleased with my purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the $$

At two for a little over $40, these gas cans are serviceable … with a post-purchase modification. Nothing in the description says that they come with a perforated sleeve in the can. Because the perforations are fairly fine, they make back pressure so you have to fill them with the pump at the slowest possible flow, a real pain. The click-and-push gas can spouts are ubiquitous nowadays, and they always leak. You end up with gasoline all over one hand while trying to hold the ‘click’ release which snaps shut the second you let go of it, all while holding up 30 lbs. (6 lbs./gal.) of gasoline with one hand.

I transfer gasoline into my boat’s tank with one of those siphons with a marble in the end … very efficient, no leaks and no gasoline in the water, so the plastic sleeve inside the can meant that I couldn’t use the siphon. A good tug with a pair of sharp-nosed pliers removes the perforated sleeve and you have a couple useful gasoline cans which you can also now fill at a faster flow rate.
