Gets maybe a tad hot, even outdoors when I have my animal ambassadors out. Not really a problem but snakes are dumb and they will cook themselves on hot spot. If this is under tank with some decent substrate it's not a problem.

I found that another external heat source (such as a heat buddy) will warm this and let it transmit to the glass so I don't have to keep the pad on non-stop. If you live somewhere and plan for emergencies with your animals this really becomes relevant in a days-on power outage during freezing temps.

For anyone that cares I ran this off a mid-sized Bluetti under a canopy tent for hours on Halloween with zero issues and very respectable draw (~15w). The snakes were happy and the tarantula next door enjoyed the radiant warmth too.

I do wish it came with a switch and some sort of controllable cutoff temp, but these are very minor wishes. My unit was heated on both sides and had zero issues with the adhesive.

Will buy 4+ more for all of my main displays.

My leopard gecko spends a lot of the day snuggled up on the side of the terrarium with the heat pad, this works great to regulate tank temps !

She loves to lay flat on the heating pad, helps her regulate her body heat. It’s pretty big, worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purchased for hamster
Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2023
Our hamster is sometimes in a room that gets around 59 degrees F... Concerned that the air heat might be overkill we placed this under her cage. We kept this on or plugged in day and night (there is no heat control on our unit). Her cage has a plastic floor.

We noticed that she moved her big bedding pile AWAY from the heated side of her cage. Also, we generally feed her plenty of food. We noticed that she's grown fatter and spending more time sleeping / quasi-hibernating in a bigger pile of cardboard bedding than we saw earlier at the pet store (we can't compare the situation to last year as this is the first year we've had her).

I say quasi-hibernating because at odd night hours she loves to get exercise! Running the treadmill and shaking the cage - even climbing upside down on the wire top!

Her cage bottom has become slightly warped due to the heat. However, it's relatively thick plastic AND we used wood blocks to raise the cage just above the heater. The plastic hasn't melted and and so for seems fine.

We never taped the heating pad so it's been easy to remove it. If it makes sense we could re-sell this item as its hardly been used and is in good condition. For now we are HAPPY to keep this heater just in case she seems to need it.

PS - One thing I've found helpful months after purchase: This seller / mfr'r has posted a PDF of the owners manual on Amazon. They also sent a paper one. I'm happy with both (and they match). The online one helps me save time and money scanning. Thanks!
