5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality sand

Great sand with coconut fibers for her crab tanks. It is moist and stays moist in the crab tank or other reptile terrain.
There is 6 lbs of sand and it is a good amount. My 50 lb tank is quarter sand, about 4-5 in deep. I bag was enough.
The quality, smell and appearance are definitely the what I like most about it. The price is about the same as other bags of sand.

This mom definitely recommends this product for anyone who needs to fill a reptile tank, especially hermit crab tank with sand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice and Clean to Start
Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2024
I really love that this sand is already clean, I dumped some in a big bowl to give it a quick wash with purified water to be rid of any dust or contaminants but nothing came off, it was already clean. It's also a really nice fine grain sand that's not itchy or damaging to touch with sensitive skin like mine and it was easy to wipe off my hand with a paper towel when I needed to pick up other things while getting ready.

This sand is the base (mixed with some vermiculite) for several little aquariums I'm experimenting with right now, using it to grow Tiny Leaf and Dwarf Hair Grass for some Rotifers and Triops to have a natural food source, oxygen source and hiding places to feel safe. So far it's growing the underwater plants really well and they are growing quickly (about a half inch per day for the Dwarf Hair Grass). I already ordered more for more experiments and I'm very happy with it all around.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sand, but seems to harden quickly
Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2023
I'm not sure if the hermit crabs mind the hard sand, but after a few days, the sand clumped together and wasn't "soft" like natural sand. The description says there are added elements into the sand to benefit the hermit crabs health... perhaps so, I'm not sure how to judge that. All I know is it's pretty a pretty cheap investment when you don't have natural sand readily available. The hermit crabs don't seem to mind the sand's texture. When we go back to the beach, I'll probably get a few gallon sized bags, bake the sand in the oven for awhile to kill bacteria and use that.

I needed some extra sand for my tank after cleaning out, this bag is perfect size for easy use. The bag did not leak, it worked great and last long. You can use it for any size tank based on your needs.
