5.0 out of 5 stars Really quite nice

5.5" on/off switch version

For the cheap price I was honestly expecting something of lesser quality. Mine has no defects, came undamaged, has a switch on the cord, has a nice heavy porcelain socket, black enamel paint on the outside of the dome, inside is not crazy reflective but it's not bad, kind of like an aluminum look, decent vent holes. Just like the pic but it's hard to really gauge quality from the pic. Quality is decent.

It's rated for 75 watts and it seems well made enough to handle that but I feel that would get a bit unnecessarily hot in this size dome. If I was going above 40 or 50 watts I'd get an 8" or one of the deeper 5.5" domes to have more air space around the bulb. No sense gettin a fixture absurdly hot for no reason.

I'm currently using mine with a 35 watt halogen bulb for basking spot, and I have a 1" porcelain socket extender in there to get the bulb just a bit lower and it's working out splendidly. It does get hot after a while but not like 3rd degree burns the second you touch it hot. Kind of a side note, those socket extenders are nice for the small halogen bulbs because they also get the bulb more centered vertically in the fixture so you have optimal room for heat dissipation. Just be sure to get porcelain and decent quality.

Anyway this is a great little dome. For $7 I was kind of expecting it to be more chintzy and just use it for a small UVB CFL or a night light or something. But I'm comfortable with a 35 watt halogen in there. It would be awesome for a small coil style UVB but it's not deep enough for the double "U" style like the Reptisun mini I typically use. It would work if you had it suspended but a lot of the bulb would stick out and that's just not sexy at all. For anything like a standard sized bulb or smaller it's excellent.

Very strong clip, works well with Fluker bulbs 75 watts or under. Has on/off switch which is very convenient. Concentrates heat down instead of out all angles.

Works perfectly, stays standing even without the clamp. I was able to grab 2 of these here for less than half the cost of a single one from the same brand at the local pet store - what a deal!

You can move the light back and forth but wish the cable was a bit longer. It seems very durable and functional works in all angles. Good purchase. Use this for quail and they are enjoying it.

The quality of this lamp is great, and it's super durable. I have a bearded dragon and a turtle, and they each have one of these. It's so easy to use, and I love how it has a switch. It keeps my animals super warm, and provides a nice safe heat!

I got four of these because I had them years ago and knew they’d be great, I’m not disappointed! I use them to light specific areas for my specific tanks and use standard LED bulbs in them as they’re more for directional lighting rather than heat lamps, etc. Very durable, hold in position where set and no issues like some similar standard shop Light which actually costs more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product

I've never had a fluker light go bad. Quality is great. Only downside is that getting the clamp on the base (they come separate) is like a college course in engineering, but it works out in the end. I found myself having to excessively tighten the clamp bolt to keep the lamp from sagging, but this is common to all lamps of this design, and it does tighten enough eventually.
