I have on hand for chinchilla with teeth problems and for my others. It keeps fresh well. You can change the texture and consistency with water. Good to have for emergencies. Glad I could finally get it

5.0 out of 5 stars This is truly a miracle in a bag for rabbits
Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2020
Our 7 year old rabbit developed sore hocks that started bothering him so we decided to take him to the vet to get them checked out. Turns out that not only did he have those but a multitude of other health issues that really surprised us since he was still eating a lot and was active. They said he would not live thru that night and needed to be admitted. We decided to get a second opinion and the first vet gave us pain and antibiotic meds and small bag of critical care to take home. The second vet also said the same thing, even offering to cremate him for free on the spot! We were incredibly saddened and surprised that these vets couldn't do anything to help our little guy. We decided that if we couldn't be in the room with him at the time of his passing (Because of COVID) that we would take him home to pass with us. It was heartbreaking but we made him as comfortable as possible.
We think the shock of being handled by so many people without us there really affected him to the point he couldn't walk and would just lay there. What surprised us was that he kept eating...A LOT. We fed him romaine and critical care two-three times a day. After almost two weeks he made a FULL recovery and was walking and running on his own. His sores were still there but with a lot of treatment they were manageable, thanks to another amazon product Vetericyn.
We give it to critical care for sustaining our bunny and keeping him alive. Often times our bunny disliked drinking water and eating hay so this really supplemented that part of his diet and really gave him all the nutrients to bounce right back. He absolutely loves this stuff and we feed this to him as a treat at the end of the day to help with water intake or hay.
We love this product. It is truly a miracle product. Please don't stop making this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feed this to your elder buns!!!!

When bunnies age it's hard for them to keep weight which leads to other ailments. I've started feeding this 2x daily to my buns when they age to around 9 years and keep them on it until we have to say goodbye. Thus far it's extended my bunnies' lives, one lived to be over 9 years old (amazing for a large breed), one of my bonded pairs lived to be over 12 years old, I currently have another bonded pair who are a lively 10 years old, and one single 9 year old. ALL are still very healthy besides the normal aging which comes naturally (arthritis and blindness). I mix it to a thick paste and make small bite-sized pieces on a paper towel and feed in the morning and night as a "treat". They love it, and it keeps them at a healthy weight as well as keeping away digestive, skin, and hair issues. I simply can't say enough about Critical Care, it has allowed me to have more loving years with my buns, which is simply immeasurable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, but..

Great product, but I'm leaving this review specifically for the person who has their chinchilla in the plastic ball in one of the reviews. Your chin is getting sick because of that ball, from heat stroke no less. Chinchillas can easily get heat stroke and easily overheat when simply playing and running around, putting them in that ball just speeds up that process. Keep him in a room that is 69 degrees at all times for this reason, they can not be in any environment that is over 70 degrees for extended periods, but you can also buy cooling tiles for them, these do help to some extent. Throw that ball away and buy a metal play pen that he can run around in while supervised. They can't have any plastic in their cage, they eat it and it kills them, any plastic ledges can be covered with fleece liners. Oxbow pellets and timothy hay is all they need in their diet to survive, there are treats they can have like rose hips and apple twigs, but do not risk giving them anything if you aren't sure. Kiln dried pine or kiln dried aspen bedding is the only bedding they should have, any expandable bedding will be eaten and will expand in the stomach which will kill them. Sweets will cause bloat and kill them as well, even the ones that they can have like dried goji berries, so these must be given in moderation, once every 2 weeks if okay. There are also a variety of herbs, snacks and treats and toys they can have and I recommend checking out "whimsy's menagerie" for a great selection of them and other thing's. They also need dust baths twice a week and should not be washed with water. Hope this helps someone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Addition
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2024
I started this for my 10 year old Lionhead rabbit who has arthritis. Our vet suggested it for extra nutrients and through trial and error I have found what works for feeding this to my rabbit. First I take a half a scoop of the Critical Care product. I use the anise flavored one. I place it in a small cup and add a little over half of a 20cc medicine sized cup of warm water. I then take a mini battery operated hand held mixer(frother) and blend it. Then I add the rest of the water and place it in a 30cc catheter tip syringe. I squirted a little in his mouth to get him used to it. For his feedings I let him sit on a towel on the couch and I place the syringe near his mouth. When he grabs the syringe I squeeze out a little bit at a time. I found a toothpick to be handy if the tip gets clogged during feeding. He usually finishes the whole feeding but if there is any left I place it in the fridge and add it in with the next feeding time. I found if I try to force feed any left over to him he gets stressed and then doesn’t want to eat at all. But if your rabbit isn’t eating anything at all then force feeding will probably be required.
I also incorporate fresh natural foods in his diet and anti inflammatory plants safe for rabbits. But I feel with the Critical Care it has given him an extra boost.
