    These are the classic style heat lamps. If ypu are as bright as the bulbs they use you wont burn something down, if you're a dimmer bulb you'll torch something for sure.

    I just put these together & plugged them in, so I can’t speak to longevity. They went together quickly & are both working. I have a farm w/a variety of livestock. Heat lamps are not foreign to me. However this is my 1st time using this brand. I’ve always used the Job Smart brand (Tractor Supply) Buying on Amazon saved me a few bucks, & my TS was out of stock. Couple things to mention about other reviews & comparing brands. As far as screws being too short: they need to screw from inside-out (see pics), if you try from wrong side they’re too short that way. As far as clip being hard to open. You WANT that! If it was looser it could fall & BURN your barn down! I still secure it up w/something else just to be safe. It’s not that hard to open for me. But I have farm chick hands haha. Comparing brands I prefer the way this lamp’s shade attaches vs TS lamps. This seems more secure. Size wise w/regard to shade and safety cage I prefer TS lamp. This shade/cage is notably smaller vs TS lamp (see pic) The larger TS lamp provides A LOT more SAFETY space to protect hot bulb from anything around it that could possibly catch fire. If someone made a lamp that implemented how this shade attaches, w/the shade and cage size of the TS Job Smart brand lamp, THAT would be the perfect lamp. Because of the shade & cage size, next time I’ll continue using the Tractor Supply lamps. Better safe than sorry! This is still a decent lamp. I’ll use it for when I’m outside working in the garage in the cold. I’d be nervous using it overnight w/animals tho. Solid 4 star lamp. Would be 5 stars w/larger shade/cage.
