5.0 out of 5 stars Works well and very handy for several tasks

This ceramic heater joins my other brands that all seem to be identical. This heats up well and I use these for several tasks. I use this size because it is safer to use 100 watts or less. I use three of these in aluminum clamp light fixtures to keep my 4x8x8 foot chicken coop warm in the winter. They can get banged around a little, but never have failed yet. Although some clamp lights are rated for 60 watt light bulbs, I have never had a problem using these in the winter. The outside temperature can dip down to around 15 degrees, but my drafty chicken coop stays at least 35 or higher. I like these to warm the chicken coop because they are safer than heat lamps and don’t put out light to bother the hen’s sleep. They do fine, even if a hen gets upset and flies into one and bumps it. I also put these under my plastic sheets that I protect my plants so they don’t freeze. Just one of these will keep a 4x8 plastic covered raised bed vegetable plot above freezing even down to around 17 degrees. I love these lights. I also use these in my well house in freezing weather. These have lasted several years so far.

This thing is doing what it's supposed to do. It's on at night to help put a little warmth in the bearded dragon's cage without lighting it up like a Christmas tree. Works perfectly, no complaints. I have no idea for the longevity because this is the first ceramic bulb I've had, but I'm thinking since you can't visibly see it working, I'll need to check it every now and then to make sure it's heating up.

I ordered this for my sulcata tortoise terrarium and it works perfectly to keep their enclosure ware. They are currently less than a year old so they are still small. This works great for night time heating purposes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Using for older chicks and saving 150W over an infrared bulb
Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2024
I'm going to be replacing my 250W infrared bulb in the brooder with this heater bulb both to save money and also to give my chicks a break from the constant illumination they have been subject to since they hatched. My birds are calling me cheap but I think this is a much better way to keep them warm.

I use this in a lamp in my bearded dragon's cage to provide 24/7 heat. This is great and throws a lot of heat without putting out any light.
