This began as an experiment to bring birds, chipmunks and squirrels close to the window so our senior cat would have some entertainment during the day. It has proven to be a great success, mostly with the chipmunk and squirrels. But the smaller birds have been finding their way to our covered deck also. The seed is appropriate for our southeastern birds, and the price is very competitive.

Received a feeder from a neighbor that was moving. Bought some generic big box store seed. Noticed the only birds eating out of it were a house finch couple and they were just picking the sunflower seeds out and leaving the rest. So I bought them this seed and they absolutely LOVE IT. They visit multiple times through out the day and now there's another house finch couple joining in. My cat loves watching them eat. Only downside is sometimes my furry idiot bonks his head into the window and I have to clean up sunflower shells off my porch every few days.

These are OK but they have a lot of "garbage" mixed in such as rocks, big chunks of wood, etc. that I had to pick out before I could give to my birds. I don't understand how this stuff could have made it through the filtering process. I would give these a 3 star rating if it weren't for the price. I have since found a better brand (more expensive, but worth the difference) that have fresher looking seeds (and blacker) and much larger meatier seeds, with no "garbage" mixed in that I have to pick out. If you have the time to pick out the "garbage" then these here that I'm reviewing are probably an economical choice but the seeds, I feel, don't provide enough nutrition unless the birds sit there for a while and eat a goodly amount of them.

The birds love them but if you plant and cover with cardboard for a few days they'll germinate, super affordable way to a sunflower wall.
