5.0 out of 5 stars 50W little heater for beta
Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2024
I was surprised how big this this heater is. So far it's working great for my 5 gal beta tank (overkill for sure). I wish there is a 10W version. Other than that, it's great product and temperature is on point.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great!

Works great! My fish seem happy and the temp stays at 78 degrees like it should. when i first put it in, it went up to 80 and I thought it was going to keep going up but then it stabilized. I would def buy this again - I have a 10G tank and it keeps it at a good level. Keep in mind, fish lovers, that heat does make water evaporate and you will need to add water to the tank every now and then, but it makes the fish happier (and more reproductive).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great no fuss heater for our betta.

So far this is amazing! We got our daughter a betta for Christmas. This sweet kiddo is obsessed with animals, but her betta was not super happy...The tank has to sit a bit closer to a window than we would like, but that's where we have the space. It makes the water cold, and that poor thing was nearly dormant. A little research later and we ordered this. Easy solution, and no fuss no muss. This is our kind of heater.

Pros:

1) literally plug and play. Be sure to follow the super easy, one step set-up directions, but it is easy and quick to have this thing in the water and working.

2) no need to mess with anything. It is supposed to keep your water between 78 and 80 degrees. We do have an infrared temp gun, and we have measured twice to see...once it was 77, and once 78, so pretty accurate! I don't worry about this baking our fish, as some heaters have been reported to do.

3) FISH is HAPPY! Bells, as our fish is known loves to sleep near this thing, and it way more active the remainder of the time. It has truly made him happier and more amusing for her. Interesting to know that bettas aren't really all that lazy and boring, but rather they really need the right environment. Consider this if your betta is not happy!

Cons:

1) this is a bit bigger than I had anticipated. We have a 2.5 gallon tank, and this is the smallest tank I would use it for.

2) the suction cup is not perfect. IT doesn't come off, but this is a long enough tube that I wish they had put two suction cups on it. Since it is holding well, I am leaving this at 5 stars, but it would look better if it clung to the side better.

All in all this is a GREAT heater, and has made our little fishie's life far better!

5.0 out of 5 stars Small Submersible Aquarium Heater
Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2024
I got this months ago, and I have to admit I just put it in the tank maybe a week ago. I had a betta fish and it was always up against the filter, and I kept wondering if he was cold and the filter was giving off some heat? He died, and then I got a new one and then this heater. He was starting to snuggy up to the filter too and I put the heater in there for him. It's working just fine, nothing to adjust, runs itself, just push the suction cup to the wall in the water and plug it in, easy peasy. And Georgeous is swimming around all happy and the filter is feeling lonely now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked for 2 weeks!!!
Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2020
Got this 2 weeks ago and was thrilled that it kept my 3 gallon tank warm and my betta happy... until it stopped working last night after I cleaned the tank and changed partial water. It stopped working all together and water is ICE COLD this morning! The light is green and will occasionally turn red for a few seconds before going back to green (which is supposed to indicate the the water is at the correct temperature). Still cold. I called Tetra customer service after reading many of the reviews here with the same issue. I explained what happened and asked if there is anything I could do to fix it or reset the heater as another reviewer mentioned that customer service gave instructions which fixed the issue. The customer service rep I spoke to would not help or even talk to me further if I could not tell him the temperature. I explained that I do not have a thermostat therefore I wouldn't be able to check the temp but I assured him that the water was noticeably cold to touch in comparison to the warm water that has been consistent in the tank in the 2 weeks I've had this heater and tank. He rudely continued to cut me off and said that he couldn't help me if I don't have a temperature and he became more and more condescending in his tone has he continued. His customer service was TERRIBLE! I told him that I understood he needed to know the actual temp and that he couldn't trust the temperature based on touch, so I asked if he could at least tell me what the possible options are as far as fixing this issue would be as I saw many other amazon reviewers shared the same issue. He became increasingly frustrated, increasingly rude, saying that he needs the temperature to know if he needs to send a replacement etc. I graciously explained that it was not my intention to get a replacement. I just wanted to know if he could help me troubleshoot so that I can attempt to fix my heater before my betta dies. I'm not interested in waiting for a replacement heater to come in the mail. Eventually I just asked to speak to his supervisor multiple times before he finally he basically said (like a child with a bad attitude) "Fine....." and he patched me directly through to someone's voicemail. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE TETRA PRODUCTS for the simple fact that customer service is NOT a priority to them. A simple "I'm sorry you're having trouble with your new heater. Tell me what's happening and let's see what we can do...." would have been great and I would be willing to go to the nearest pet store and buy a replacement myself if he was willing to help me troubleshoot and exhaust all options first. Instead, the gentleman has no customer service training, does not know the meaning of showing empathy, and is not interested in helping anyone... unless you can tell him the temperature of the water even though this heater doesn't have a thermostat in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps water temp warm and toasty
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2024
I noticed the water in our small aquarium was in the low 70's to upper 60's. Thinking this might be too cool for our Glofish I read where they are a tropical type and need warmer temp water. I purchased this as our tank is only 2.5 gallon. It works well. I just dropped it in and used the included suction cup to attach to side of tank. It is automatic so I don't have to constantly check water temp.

I bought a 23 dollar one from pet smart and it broke first day, this is still working and was significantly cheaper to use. Easy to install in my tank and i have a safe guard so my turtle wont get hurt. Very aafe to use. There was no leakage and its easy to clean.
