5.0 out of 5 stars Cheaper than the stores!

I have two budgie parakeets who go through this like crazy! They absolutely love eating and and love leaving me nice little messes of the seeds their finished with! We have this on a bi-weekly delivery which helps for the days I completely forget I need to go out and buy it. It's much cheaper than the stores - not sure if that's the same for all areas or not. I'm glad to be able to feed my birds good quality food that they love and not break my bank in the process.

Been feeding nothing else to my keets for years. It’s complete nutrition, unlike seeds. The #1 reason for early parakeet death is malnutrition. They eat it all so there’s no waste and no mess from seed hulls.Also-keets need room to fly so buy the biggest cage you can. Got my from Amazon.Plus-keets are flock birds and can actually die of loneliness. So have at least 2 of them and keep them happy!

I loved the pellets I gave my birds before-- no dyes, no colors, great ingredients-- but the pellets were larger than what my birds could eat (even though they were for budgies!) and I was tired of having to break them down. I switched to these, even though these have sugar in the ingredients, to see if my birds would like them. These are the perfect size for my birds and they cannot get enough of them!! I don't think I'll be able to switch back now...

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and in good condition : UPDATE
Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2012
This has lasted me months now. I am maybe 2/3 done with it and I ordered this a really long time ago. It's cheaper to buy in bulk, I'm used to always having to stop by a pets market to buy the smaller bags, and they are much more expensive. The bad thing is, since it's so heavy the box it came in was in awful condition when it arrived. Ripped, torn open, and the UPS guy threw it against our door too, because it was so heavy.

UPDATE: So it's been awhile since I've last posted, yeah? I thought I'd give an update and give a more thorough review.

I have three birds total, an African Grey, a parrotlet, and a budgie. All three love Zupreem. We buy the bigger pellet size for our African Grey, and she's funny because she likes to pick out certain colors, so when we refill her bowls in the morning all you'll see are the purple ones leftover. (I guess she doesn't like grape flavor!) Sometimes it'll be just all red leftover, but she always eats the yellow ones.

For my other two smaller birds, I was afraid Zupreem would be harmful for them in the long run because I've been on a couple of bird forums and there's always a huge discussion about the artificial coloring in Zupreem pellets. Zupreem has had years of testing and perfecting their products, but still I worried and so I tried switching over to a non-colorful seemingly healthier choice, Roudybush. They hated it! They'd toss it all out onto the bottom of their cage and make a huge mess out of it. I've thus learned my lesson that my birds can be finicky eaters and I struck gold the first time when I tried Zupreem. It was wishful thinking that they'd just switch over; Roudybush had more of a veggie wheat sort of base smell, whereas Zupreem was more fruity and sweet smelling. All in all, it was a waste of money trying to find something new. I bought the huge 10 lb bag of Roudybush too, so I had to slowly mix it in with some Zupreem to not waste it. I've also tried mixing it with hot water and mashing it with some steamed veggies to feed to my bigger African Grey as a treat (she likes warm steamed foods and isn't as finicky as the smaller ones).

We were first recommended Zupreem by our local vet when our African Grey got extremely sick from eating a strictly seed medley diet. Apparently it's not as nutritious for them; she would pick out mainly sunflower seeds, and those are like candies to them. My budgie was also starting to show signs of respiratory issues from her seed diet; she was having breathing problems and was wheezing, trouble balancing, tail was bobbing as she breathed. After swapping to pellets they are much more healthier and get the vitamins and nutrition they need.

Our bird likes it, occasionally he refuses to eat one color or another but I chalk that up to Amazon pickiness.

I got two parakeets about a year ago who only would eat bird seed. I started doing more research finding out that’s not a great diet for long term. I was told it would be hard to switch them over but they acclimated very quickly to this new diet and seem to be happy little birdies with this food!

Our parakeet absolutely LOVES this bird food. Besides the seeds, it contains dried fruits and veggies, along with various vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Well deserved 5-stars! Thanks for a great quality product!
