5.0 out of 5 stars Complete Program.

When my wife a retired school teacher decided she wanted to learn Spanish we purchased this program. We got the family edition so I could put it on my computer also. It is a complete tutorial on the Spanish language. For a person who wants to use Verbs and adjectives properly this is a good program. if you are like me and just want to pick up a few words and phrases it is a bit much. It also teaches the proper pronunciation which is very important. The workbook which has flash cards with words is a nice addition. My wife has picked up the language quite well in just a month using this program. Even I have more than tripled my Spanish vocabulary and understanding by just listening to the CDs. I recommend it to anyone who want's to learn Spanish at any level.

Good start for tourists and beginning students. Rapid progress, but lacks details on grammar and in depth vocabulary

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay for the price

I have been working with the program for about two weeks now. I did not have great expectations for it and I wasn't disappointed. It's a pretty routine process, similar to classes I've taken, and a little more fun since I haven't hit any grammar recitation...yet. My difficulty with languages is that I do not have good rote memory. I can take information and synthicize it into meaningful data, e.g, writing essays, news artless, and the like. That is not what this program is about. It does have a lot of straight memorization. That's okay, I'm working with it. So yes, I am content with the purchase. I am developing some Spanish skills in proportion to my dedication to the studying. Given that, I do recommend the program for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not For The Average Person

It remind me of being in a very structured English class. In the first 30-minutes the tape is using words like verbs, adverbs, action verbs, conjunctions, etc. The teaching on the CD is all in English. A Spanish word is pronounced, I repeat it, And then a couple minutes explaining the word, whether it is a verb or whatever, and then the next Spanish word. After 30-minutes, I stopped the CD, re-boxed it, and gave it to Salvation Army. A waste of time. I was completely frustrated, and had not learned one word. Back to Amazon to purchase a different Spanish learning CD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money!

This is no different than any language tape that has ever exsisted. You can learn some words and vocab but if you really want to learn a new language this is not the tool for the job. Fter a couple of times listening to this you will be absolutly board and loose intrest. I have used Rosetta stone before and it actually works, having said that I still think its not worth what they charge for it.

Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my mom who has been wanting to learn Spanish for a long time. It wont make you a fluent Spanish speaker but it is a great tool at a good price to use in combination with a workbook and maybe some listen and speak audio sets. I really enjoy the instant immersion software, ive purchased it in Japanese as well. Mostly great for vocabulary, not a lot of sentence structure or conjugation so far but vocabulary is important!

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed using this. And its a LOT cheaper than Rosetta Stone.

Bought this to learn the basics of American Latin Spanish. And I really like it. Its cheaper than Rosetta Stone. By 100s of dollars! I like to travel to Mexico and I decided it would be nice to try and speak the language. After all, knowing a second language is a really good thing. But be warned, this is LATIN AMERICAN SPANISH, not European. I have a book on Spanish, and there a few differences. Just like there are with American English and French Canadian.

3.0 out of 5 stars I found this a very good jumping off point

I found this a very good jumping off point. Unfortunately, you don't learn parts of speech or how words change due to tenses. It is great if someone steals your passport or you are looking for the train station but it does not help to really go further with sentence structure or carrying on a conversation. I am now looking for a textbook to go along with this product.
