5.0 out of 5 stars Took a bit to get started...
Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2012
I had a bit of a delay in getting the software started, the support hours are fairly limited, but once I got the help I needed, everything has gone swimmingly. I'm editing my previous review to reflect that.

Once running, the software is extremely easy to use and follow and although a bit simplistic at first, there is a definite progression into more difficult techniques.

I think this is a near perfect transition for a player who knows the notes on the strings and wants to learn rock power chords and move from playing note by note into chords. For those players who can read tabs, but might not know the actual notes on the string the software offers a great transition from counting frets to thinking about the notes you are playing in terms of chords. A great asset when trying to play unfamiliar music without tablature.

The software is a great addition to the arsenal, and offers an amazing transition into chords if you are not used to playing them. It offers all this with a rock background, keeping the practice from becoming too repetitive or boring and allowing you to practice music that sounds like a real song.

The last time I purchased this product, I had an issue, so I wrote to customer support and I am still waiting to hear from them. That was three months ago. Anyway, they say this is a good learning system so I am willing to give it a try again. hmmm

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product/ no support
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2013
Originally the error "maximum activations" after installing the product, and having
the correct serial number. I purchased the product legally from Amazon.

Contacted their support several times, both phone and email, and their own support form.

No answer, acknowledgement, zero, none. It's been weeks. Not even told if they
    received my messages.

This is a great product, and they put a lot of time in their software. But they spent little
    in customer support.

So, my advice with anybody with Windows 7/8, by one eMedia CD first. If it works, then by their
other software. If not, don't waste your money, they won't help you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good course, lousy PC interaction
Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2013
One of the reason's I bought this course was to play my guitar through my computer and have it give feedback that way. It's one of the main selling points of the course. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way. It requires a mic in front of your amp to get this to register with the course, but the lag time(latency)is terrible, even with a quality mic for input. The course and my guitar were never in sync, rendering one of the main features of this course moot.

Otherwise, the course is a decent one, with good instruction, lots of menus with lots of help available, and a well structured list of lessons that look like they will teach you the basics of rock guitar in short order. I only wish all of it's features worked as well.

In conclusion, I do recommend this course if looking for a reasonably priced teaching aid, just don't expect to play along with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great learning tool, just get the download.

I think this is a great learning tool for a beginner like me. I can go as fast or as slow as I want during my lessons. I love the interactive fret board. I can watch it as I play along and if I forget where my fingers are supposed to be I can just click on the fret board and it will show me my finger placement. The only gripe I have is that I ordered the CD and 3 days later when it arrived I opened it up and the instructions told me if I have Windows 10 then not to use it. It told me to instead download it from their website using the supplied product key code. Really! If I had known that in the first place I wouldn't have waited for something I couldn't use to come in the mail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!

I am re-learning guitar after a 35 year hiatus. Now that I am early-retired I have more time to devout to learning to play as I did as a teenager. I have purchased numerous books and DVD's but nothing comes close to the eMedia series. I am using this in conjunction with the eMedia Guitar Method v5. I didn't bother to learn to read music as a teenager so now I am havin g a whole new respect for the guitar. This is a great program by eMedia!
  • okay game, fun to play while waiting
4.0 out of 5 stars Good alternative for learning
Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2014
Bought this looking for alternative to Rocksmith I use on PS3. I travel quite a bit and use this on my laptop, whilst being "stuck" in hotels. Real good at showing basics and you feel sense of accomplishment early on.

4/5 because graphics could be better BUT are adequate.

    I do recommend
