    It won’t run on the computer, too out of date, and there was no way to update it off your purchase. I had to pay again for the latest version.

    I was given a set of home movie DVD's that needed to be transferred to flash drives. DVD players are still around but some would prefer to keep copies of DVD's on their computer or give them to family members. But most computers do not have DVD drives any more. As a genealogist, younger people don't want to keep DVD's on their shelf and the drawer of home movies is sometimes difficult to navigate. Flash is the easiest and probably quickest way to transfer these files, even large files.

    I started to transfer some of these older disc and found that over the years different programs were used to create these discs and were read only. I couldn't just open the DVD and convert the files into another format. Sometimes it became a 2-3 step process using different programs. One program to rip the dvd and another to edit, and another to merge, etc. (And did I mention that I am a cheapskate).

    I bought many programs in the past that never worked as promised so I was hesitant to buy anything else.
    I googled this type of software but most programs have a try before you buy but you only receive about 5 minutes of video to judge the quality, speed, etc. But I noticed a pattern of each program that I "tried". The programs that worked best had the same basic GUI and the price ranged from "TODAY ONLY $34.95 to $119.00".

    As I continued to search, I loaded program after program and they all functioned the same and looked the same. But here is the main difference: NCH allowed me to use the program WITHOUT restriction for an extended period of time. I transferred approximately 10 dvd's without watermarks, without time restrictions, without ads for approximately 10 dvd's. I almost thought it was completely free! When it did ask me for purchase, INITIALLY, I reluctantly clicked the buy button to see the cost. In the back of my mind I had already determined that this program worked so well, I would purchase the program no matter the cost. The program worked and I when the price came up..I was shocked! It was cheaper than any of the other programs that locked me out after 5 minutes.

    I will continue to support NCH, just for their generosity and excellent marketing. Thank You!

    I tried the program out before I bought it. My trial with it was so convincing and effective that I bought it, almost right away. Before I tried Prism Video Converter Software, I tried Movavi's Video Converter software. I've got to say that Movavi has shot themselves in the foot with their free software trial as the converted video in the Movavi trial had a large translucent band that goes across the screen, effectively making it hard to assess the quality of Movavi's video conversion. What I did see in Movavi's free-trial, besides the translucent band with Movavi's name being superimposed over the video I was converting, was, in the background, a rather grainy looking, low quality version of the video I was converting. NCH's free-trial, on the other hand, rather than placing a translucent band across the converted video with the company's name on it, used the more effective method of restricting some of the more advanced capabilities of the software, while still offering the basic video conversion abilities that I was interested in the program for. I'm not a videographer or a video expert, by any means, but to my consumer eyes, the quality of the converted video is stunning. The converted video, being cut down data-wise by leaps and bounds, to my eyes, still looks about as good as the video that, before compression, required gigabytes of space to store. Short videos of between 5-12 minutes that took up anywhere from 7-12 GBs of storage space were compressed down to videos that require, in some cases, less than 100 megabytes of data with the rest being converted to videos requiring less than 200 MBs of data. To me, the quality of the compressed video is superb and the sound quality of the converted videos is, also, excellent. I was very pleasantly surprised with the results of this software. I'm using a rather old Mac Pro with 128 GBs of RAM, macOS Mojave (10.14.6) with an AMD Radeon RX 580 GPU. I would suggest trying out their software with their free downloads from the NCH website. That way, you have nothing to lose if it doesn't work for you and the chance to be highly satisfied, like I am, with the results that Prism Video Converter Software can provide.

    Don't even try this software. It doesn't work and is a big waste of your money. Gives the appearance it can do many things and is a total failure.
