5.0 out of 5 stars Caesar Salad and New York Cheesecake
Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2010
When I used the search for Caesar dressing I got no less than 16 recipes! We used one for Christmas and even my daughter (a Caesar salad aficionado) said it was one of the best she had tasted, even though it was a little spicy, (we used extra garlic, and my wife said we should have just stayed with the recipe).

We also made one of the recipes for cheesecake, and it was so good that our family completed it in one seating.

There are so many recipes that we have to search carefully, so that we get one within our taste parameters. This is a marvelous product. I used to have a copy nine years ago, which unfortunately got lost in a move, and I am so glad to get it again.

An amazing resource of recipes, easy to use interface.
-1 star for the nutrition information if a list not integrated with the recipe.
** This is a 16bit software **
This means it will ONLY work with a 32bit version of Windows (not 64bit) or you will have to run this software in a virtual machine running an older version of Windows (98,98SE, ME). This is the reason for a lot of 1 star reviews of not working on their computer, they running the 64bit version of Windows.

I couldn't use the disc. I have Windows 7 and this disc was for a much earlier edition.

I had another "One Million Recipes" earlier and I really liked it. Do you have an edition that I can use on Windows 7?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Purchase! Highly Recommend!

Love This! Great recipes from Great chefs/restaurants, small diners, and home cooks, all in one place set up as a recipe card box!
Multiple versions of some recipes so you can compare and take hints away from each to make your own custom recipe versions!
My only regret, is once you have the program on your computer; you still have to have the disk in the drive to operate the program.
I was hoping I could install it and put the disk away for safe keeping, to avoid any damage, in case I needed to reinstall ever again.
But that;s a small caveat compared to the wealth of info in this recipe program.

Lots of ideas for a multitude of recipes. I compare the recipes for common ingredients then choose one to try, based on what I like/have on hand. One or two recipes weren't so great but most were a good start for me. When I find one I really like, it goes in my personal cookbook, crediting where I found it.
My husband has found some good recipes, also.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good cooking resource.

Although there is room for improvement, I love this cd. I use it frequently. You can search by ingredient(s); just be sure to not separate using commas, only a space or it won't work. You can also search by title, category or cooking method. The array of recipes is near exhaustive. I have found many ethnic dishes, canning recipes, 20 versions of a single recipe title, etc. Once you figure it out how to use the software, it is a lot of fun.

As for suggestions for improvement: There are no directions for use so you have to figure things out by trial and error. I wish there was a way to tag favorite dishes you have used before. It appears that you can type in your own recipes and save them, so I have copied and pasted some. You must insert the cd each time you use it. If you accidentally start the program without the disc handy there it is a bit difficult to close. Some of the recipes are incompleted, but these are relatively few. The recipes look like they were collected from individual people because they often include statements like "my family" or "I use" etc. This could account for some of the incomplete or vague quantities and directions. The software program itself is a bit dated. The nutritional information is realy lacking, don't buy it for this purpose.

I think the good outweighs the bad here. Just be advised of what you are getting. My disc just broke and I really miss it. I will definitely replace it; maybe try out the newer version.

I received the CD much quicker than I antisipated and as good as I expected. I love this cook book. It's a lot quicker to find a recipe than going through my cook books to find one. Thank you for the speedy delivery. Esther
