5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Threes!

I purchased Jump Start Preschool several years ago for my grandchildren to play when they come to visit and recently added Jump Start Kindergarten to the collection. They love them both. The two year olds play them with my help and by the time they are three can insert the cd, click on the icon, start the game and go from one activity to another independently. Several of them visit often and head for the computer as soon as they come in the door. These cd's are great not only for their entertainment and educational value but they also help children to be comfortable with the mouse and keyboard.

Both my 18 year old daughter and my 5 year old son have enjoyed this product. My daughter had all the Jump Start programs from kindergarten to the 8 th grade. She would do them a year ahead of the year she was enrolled in her private school. My son is in public school so he is right at his grade level. The games are fun and with some easier and some challenging. This variety gives him the chance to select what he is ready for at the momement. After using it a few times he is now independant in navigating throughout the program. It's highly interactive with great sound to accompany the visuals. I feel it has helped him with his critical thinking skills more than anything. He's so proud when he finishes a game or task. We love it !

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work

In grade school, I remember us lovingggg computer class.

These old computer games were so much fun, and we learned a lot!

I know these discs are old, but because they are still listed on Amazon, I thought they would still work.
Disappointed because I purchased a few, and each ran too slow and froze up the laptop screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought because I enjoyed it as a kid

I saw in the reviews that some people didn’t get the game pictured and received one with a dog on it so I was a little nervous about that. I sent this to a friend so I’m not sure what the cover looks like but it doesn’t matter because my friend told me that her son loves it!!! She almost couldn’t get him off of it lol very happy with my purchase. Would definitely recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars It's OK

This software has some fun games, but it didn't keep my kindergarten student engaged for more than one session of learning. He played on all of the games and was ready to move on to something else. I felt that with most kindergarten children however, that it would hold their attention and could be used over and over. It's educational value is not as good as it could be (instead of using art/painting and music, they could substitute for other academic areas), but it's engaging and fun. It has other activities (reading/math) that are very educational.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good programs for kindergarten

The day school where I volunteer as a enrichment teacher wanted to upgrade their computer lab. A friend suggested the JumpStart series. This program is excellent for our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. It is a bit of a challenge for the Four year old class. I will be ordering something less demanding for our two younger groups.

2.0 out of 5 stars Requires Quicktime
Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2011
Since I don't want Quicktime on my computer this was a waste of money. Quicktime has a habit of taking over your computer whether you want it to or not. Last JumpStart game I buy. Wish Amazon had listed Quicktime in the spec requirements.

3.0 out of 5 stars Jump Start ADVANCED Kindergarten
Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2015
I opened what looks like the photo you see here, but the Disc said JumpStart ADVANCED Kindergarten. Unfortunately, it has issues running on modern PC's, you need to change your settings to make it run, and install Quickplayer. It didn't hold my daughters attention for long, it might be too much for her just yet. There's delay between clicking and verbal instruction, and she gets frustrated and wants to give up. I grew up with these and remember them being a lot more user-friendly.
