    I use Illustrator every day. I've tried many other programs over the years, and Illustrator is by far my favorite. I had an annual student-teacher subscription that I got direct from Adobe last year, during the Black Friday sales, and it happened the one-year commitment happened to end yesterday, so they automatically renewed this month at the full price. I happened to see the Black Friday deal here on the student-teacher version, and it's a better deal than getting it direct from Adobe - you save around $42 for the year. I called Adobe to cancel my current subscription, and they refunded the month that I just paid for. Then I activated this license that I just purchased from Amazon. It can be difficult to figure out how to add this to your existing account, so here are the instructions:

    ** Before making your purchase, make sure that you meet the eligibility requirements for the Student-Teacher edition (if that's the version you're getting). Check Adobe's website for this information.
    ** If you have an existing subscription, cancel it. You can cancel it and get a pro-rated refund for this month if you previously purchased an annual plan or an annual plan paid monthly at least a year ago. If your year isn't up, I believe you will just end up having overlapping subscriptions, which may still be worth it. If in doubt, call Adobe (get the number from their website)
    ** Select the product options you want - make sure that they're correct, and make your purchase. I chose the one-time purchase, since it will autorenew at the non-Black Friday rate.
    **After making the purchase, if the Your Orders page doesn't come up, you can just go to that page.
    ** Next to the purchase info for the product. click on Go To Your Software Library. You should see all of your software digital download purchases - this newly-purchased subscription will most likely be the first one.
    ** Select and copy your Product Key.
    ** You should see a "How To Redeem This Item" link directly above the Product Key. Click on it and follow the instructions. You will be able to paste the Product Key.
    ** You will need to fill in your eligibility information if you purchased the Student-Teacher version. You will then need to confirm your eligibility, if you don't have something on file with Adobe already. It might confirm it for you automatically if you use an email from your academic institution as the email for your Adobe acct.
    ** When you get to the point where it asks for a credit card, just click on Remind Me Later since it's prepaid. It won't autorenew a year from now without a credit card on file, and that's probably what you want, because if it autorenews, you won't get the Black Friday discounted plan. A year from now, you'll be able to take advantage of next year's Black Friday deals, whether from Amazon or direct from Adobe - just check to see who's got the best prices.

    Ever since Adobe went cloud and subscription, it is so confusing to decide which way to go for subscriptions. I really only use Lightroom Classic and have done so for many years. The past few years I've gotten the LR/PS photo bundle with 20Gb of cloud data but this year I thought I would try the LR only bundle and thought it would be great to have 1Tb of cloud data. BEWARE IF YOU DO THIS!! The LR only 1Tb cloud bundle DOES NOT INCLUDE LR Classic!!! I found out the hard way when trying to activate my Classic after paying the annual subscription fee. CLASSIC IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE LR 1TB PLAN!!

    Essentially I will not need to pay a separate monthly subscription fee to have the LR/PS 20Gb bundle and will not even use the LR 1Tb cloud plan because it does NOT include Classic.

    If you are a LR Classic user, beware of this difference. It was an expensive lesson for me. My own fault for not noticing but Adobe makes it VERY difficult to sort through their numerous plan offerings.

    I find this new version of Lightroom to be easy to understand and navigate. The tools are explained thoroughly in the tutorials within the program. This is not a program that needs text books and videos to be understood. For the first time I will learn from the program it self. I have to admit I'm not crazy about the licensing agreement. Use over time will tell me more. As of right now I have no complaints.

    As an existing subscriber of the Lightroom only plan looking to upgrade for Photoshop, I purchased this plan. The description was not clear on how it would change my existing subscription. This is my experience…

    After completing the order in Amazon, the new subscription starts right away. There is no product key or option to activate later. Amazon has a page to manage the subscription to link to your existing Adobe email or cancel the subscription.

    Once you link your Adobe account, this creates a new plan in addition to your existing plan. So my Adobe account has both the Lightroom plan that renews monthly and this new Photography plan that renews annually. My cloud storage also went up to 2TB.

    I cancelled my existing monthly Lightroom plan, which is not prorated or refundable. It’s active for two more weeks but there’s no benefit since the new Photography plan has all the same features. I lose out on what I paid for. I assume upon the final cancellation date my storage will go back to 1TB.

    If you were already on the Photography plan, I’m not sure if this would extend your existing subscription or create a 2nd photography plan. But as someone who had the Lightroom only plan this created a new plan. This worked out OK for me since I was upgrading plans anyway but know what you’re getting into.

    Overall the purchasing and linking experience was easy and trouble free but the way the subscription is handled is odd and not consumer friendly. I was hoping for a product key I could punch into Adobe’s site to start the subscription.
