Roxio Came To My Rescue

Hello. I bought this product in 2022. Recently, I decided to transfer a TV series from thirty years ago to DVD-R disc. The TV series can't be found on DVD. My TV 1994 series original recordings are on DVD-RAM, which is no longer able to play on standard DVD players because DVD-RAM discs are no longer in production. DVD-RAM usually only play on PC or Laptop DVD. I searched the internet for the solution to my problem and found many, many suggestions on how to accomplish this task. Most too convoluted for a lay person. Enter Roxio! I was able to copy my DVD-RAM discs TV series collection to DVD-R with just a few clicks. All discs work fine in my standard DVD player. Thanks Roxio!

WOULD NOT COPY A DVD VIDEO

I HAVE USED EARLIER EDITIONS WITH NO ISSUES. I BOUGHT THIS VERSION AND TRIED TO COPY A NON COPYRIGHTED DVD VIDEO OF HOME MOVIES. IT WOULD RUN FOR A BIT AND THEN AN ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP INSUFFICIENT SPACE ON YOUR COMPUTER. THE COMPUTER IS NEW WITH 800 GB OF FREE SPACE SO I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS MESSAGE KEEPS POPPING UP THAT THERE IS INSUFFICIENT SPACE TO TRANSFER THE VIDEO ON THE DVD TO THE HARD DRIVE.

I TRIED CONTACTING TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO HAVE A CHAT TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. TOOK TOO LONG TO GET SOMEONE TO DISCUSS THIS SO I ENDED THE CHAT TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS POOR TO SAY THE LEAST.

BOTTOM LINE IS I CANNOT BURN COPIES OF A DVD. I MAY TRY ANOTHER SOFTWARE PROGRAM

I like Roxio products, but I wish they had better directions. I have to basically go by what I know. When copying an mp4 movie to DVD, I chose the convert option & use DVD+R blank DVDs. Ripping a CD, is very easy to use & does a great job. For the price it's definitely worth it.

NOT Backwards Compatible

First, Corel Tech Support is slow to respond - minimum 5 days - and then they ask you for technical info if you're asking about the original software (EC&D1 we'll call it). They don't have a clue so you must through trial and error try to bring those older files into EC&D2. They suggested I buy EC&D2 to see if it'd work because they don't know. Well it does, with work and yet it doesn't.
SlideShows created in EC&D1 can be updated to EC&D2 and any audio you used may or may not follow. Music Creator files however are not compatible with EC&D2. They speak a foreign language that 2 doesn't comprehend
Using 2 is slightly easier to use than 1 in that 2 actually has a user manual (well, sort of) that answers some questions that will arise with use. So be sure to download it and maybe print those sections on features you'll use.
Important: As noted by other reviews, burn from software files. After saving your project, create a file and then drop and burn to your disc. You will save a lot of discs that don't work properly.
Right now I'm on day 5 waiting for tech support to tell me how to remove the red box and words ROOT MENU on the premier slideshow main screen. The manual doesn't even touch on that so I hope tech support knows. = Tech didn't understand the question. After several emails, they finally said, Oh, you want to change what it says. OMG!
In all, not a bad program. If you liked 1, you'll like 2 as long as you don't mind losing audio created with 1.
UPDATE: New improved software has a limit of 4 slide shows per DVD - period. EC&D1 was limited by the disc space, not the number of shows. That's a downgrade.

My previous review revised. It took a little time but after doing a search on Google I found product support. Within a two minute wait on the phone a support person walked me through the 'COMMON PROBLEM' of an incomplete path that was lost.

The ROXIO was up and running thanks to support within 10 minutes as she walked me through the issue and corrected the computer path.

I am a firm believer in the necessity of public relations and after sale support (anybody can sell a car but its the dealer that stays open to service the car that I buy from).
Alright...would I buy this product again? Yes, very friendly, apologetic product support that canceled the negative review.
