I'm not a professional editor, but I play one on my computer.
I've used Vegas pro 11 for many years, but newer file formats do not work without a lot of effort, such as the ones captured in TS.MP4 (HEVC H.265) format on my Pixel 7 pro phone. Also, when I lost the audio driver from Sony/apple, I could no longer use Vegas.
So, I did my research, including an inquiry and fast response from the vendor and took a chance on Cyberlink PowerDirector 2024 Ultra. My version came from Amazon in one day and included 2 CDs (but you could get the downloadable version, instead.) The install was straight forward and took the key printed on the CD sleeve just fine (Use all Caps when entering this long key). It was on a $70+ price when I bought it. The pro features at that price was very impressive.
The tool set worked very similar to my old Vegas pro, so my learning curve was relatively short. But I did reference a few of the online tutorials. My typical workflow involves importing my media, inserting the video onto the timeline, cutting out unwanted segments, creating a title and fade-in at the beginning, and fade-out at the end. I took 5 minutes of raw video and had the finished export done within an hour. And this was my first effort on this product. PowerDirector imported my Pixel 7 file just fine, and without having to go find the elusive H.265 Codec. I also used the screen capture to pull a 5 minute segment out of a two hour graduation event on youtube. Also very easy.
The really fancy tic-tok style effects did not work with my aging graphics card, but I would not normally use those anyway. Most of the effects worked fine.
So, to summarize - This product is very feature rich and at the same time easy to learn and use. The price point was a sweet extra.
