The VHS To DVD Wizard software from ClearClick makes this easy by providing you with a step-by-step, "wizard" software format. Plus, there's a simple user's manual that you can actually understand, because it's written in everyday language! Here's how this conversion system works...

Step #1: Install the ClearClick VHS To DVD Wizard Software.

Just insert the software CD to install the VHS To DVD Wizard and associated driver files. (Windows 10/8/7/Vista compatible only)

Step #2: Plug in the ClearClick USB Video Grabber.

Plug in the included ClearClick USB Video Grabber into your PC. Your computer will install it automatically.

Step #3: Connect Your VCR.

Connect your VCR to your USB video grabber with the included RCA audio/video cable, and start playing a VHS tape in your VCR. Note: a working VCR or camcorder is required and not included.

Step #4: Capture Your Video.

Click "Capture" in the software and your video will start transferring to your computer! You can either capture your video to a digital video file on your computer so that you can edit it, or you can burn your video directly to DVD as you capture it.

Step #5: Edit and Burn Your Video To DVD.

After optionally editing your video with the software to remove unwanted portions, simply burn it to DVD with the "Create DVD" section. You're done!

Good product, excellent tech support

The reason this is a five-star review is the responsiveness of tech support. The device itself is fine, and does what it is supposed to do, which is provide an interface to capture VHS video digitally. Despite the name (VHS2DVD), you can actually import it in several Windows or Mac-friendly digital file formats instead of having to burn to a DVD.

The trick is the software. The provided software can be installed from a CD (if you actually have one on your computer these days), or downloaded from the URL provided in the instruction manual (as I did). The downloaded software worked for a couple of days on my HP computer running Windows 11, and then stopped working. Uninstall and reinstall did not work.

I contacted tech support using the email address in the little user manual that comes in the box, and they responded same day. They understood the issue and personally responded with a tech solution that worked. It took a total of 4 emails exchanged, all of which were prompt, professional, and solved the problem.

Easy to Use Low Cost

Ordered this to transfer old family VHS tapes to digital. It costs about the price of paying to have 1 cassette transferred. I found the program easy to set up by using the enclosed instructions. It connected easily to my VHS player and mini VHS camera via the cables that came with the camera. I liked the preview window to watch what I was transferring. I have two friends who plan to purchase to convert their old cassettes to digital. I need to download a MP2 player on my Windows 10 computer media player to play the captured files. Once that was completed. No problems at all.

Very convenient, a little outdated

Works well and easily on Windows 10. There is no "Automatic Stop", but you can overestimate the runtime and set a time limit for recording. That works good enough since there is a built in editor that you can use to cut off the end or any in between sections. Definitely past it's prime though, as the last "New" VHS device was discontinued in 2016 and this software supports XP!

-1 Star for being so expensive considering it's too young to be vintage but old enough to be effectively "obsolete" on modern OS.

Spent countless hours trying to get it to work. It showed it was copying, but when finished the DVD had nothing on it. I'm pretty good with tech, but had to throw the towel in on this one. Returned.

What a terrific way to convert and share memories with today's technology. I am able to eliminate all those bulky VHS tapes (and I have A LOT) and burn those memories onto just a few thin DVDs. I had never looked into this ability before and was surprised by how many choices there are. There are more expensive versions, but I opted for this product. It arrived within 2 days as promised and contained EVERYTHING I needed (except the VCR, of course). Easy plug & play installation. I was set up within minutes.

Everything was perfect except I could not record any audio. After spending an evening trying everything, including a fresh install, I sent an email to the company. Within 1 hour, the owner contacted me back to assist with tech support. Crazy right? The owner! Keith was very patient and helpful and was able to assist me with my issue. Talk about customer service! So yeah, I selected the right product at the right price.

And by the way, you can also convert ANY old VHS movie you bought years ago (although it probably is considered piracy and so, you didn’t hear it from me.) The software basically turns into a TV and so, whatever you play on the VCR, the software records and you own it.

So, if the technology involved in converting your VHS tapes intimates you, this is the product to purchase. You have full support only moments away!

Worth a look - after initial issues all works well - almost.

Posting after running one test. This is the easiest converting software I've ever used, it's an all-in-one package, once you get past the initial issues.

Purchased from Amazon, loaded on a windows 10 PC with 4GB RAM and 2.20GHz duo core. Followed the enclosed instructions to the letter, but program would not detect signal from video player. Uninstalled, reinstalled, still nothing. Based on other reviews I thought that was that.

I sent an email to tech support about 4:30 pm CST on a Thursday, figured I'd hear back early the next week. Nope, got a reply Friday morning by 7:30am. List of instructions to load a different driver. Not complicated, you do not need to be a computer wiz to follow, but you do need to be able to read. I followed the instructions and was up and running in about 15 minutes.

So far I have only recorded a test DVD, only about 15 minutes in length. All seems to be OK. Have to remember I'm recording tapes that are (in some cases) 20+ years old and watching on new large screen TVs, so the quality isn't what you would hope for, but I'm putting that on my old tapes and not on the software.

If warranted I'll edit this review after burning a couple full length videos to DVD, but if all acts as it did for the test my 5 stars will stand.

***edit/update*** After burning 5 videos to DVD I have to lower my rating somewhat. When this works it works well, but in 2 of the 5 videos the audio sync was off from the video, in one case by over 5 seconds. I had to capture the video a 2nd time, and it's much closer now. Also, after capture I got an error message about running out of data (the multiplexer has run out of input data) on a 3rd project. So far have not found a way around this and will have to engage tech support. In 2 of the 5 projects it worked exactly as expected, but that's less than a 50% hit rate. So far all of my projects have been an hour in duration or less. Not sure if there would be more issues with longer tapes.
