I've used dream weaver in its various incarnations since the 90's. It saddens me that the robust powers and ease of use of Dreamweaver 8 fell victim to "progress." Today's Adobe version of dreamweaver no longer remains available on the open market. Rather, Adobe's stranglehold over its distribution by way of its Internet web site crippled their dream weaver product, but with the help of Microsoft's preference to screw Microsoft's Windows 8 operating system.
I literally cannot use the current version of Adobe's Dreamweaver on my Microsoft Windows 8 because it refuses to let me sign in, a necessity for using Dreamweaver.
For me, combining Windows 8 with dreamweaver turned into a horrific, time consuming nightmare. It's probably cost me thousands of dollars as well. If you did not know, Dreamweaver 8 does not install on Windows 7, I learned the hard way. But, Dreamweaver CSS 3 does work.
I find that Dreamweaver CS 3 works well enough with my Windows 7 operating system and newer versions like Dreamweaver 4 do not impress me. I guess Windows 7 and Dreamweaver CS 3 must serve my purposes for my remaining days. It's not worth the struggle to deal with Adobe's downloading quagmire and 2 products per household. I usually have 3 computers on at anyone time during my work. It looks like my days working on the computer and dreamweaver will end as Microsoft kills off Windows 7.
So it goes.
