I've been editing with Sony Movie Studio 12 for the past 8 years, and had much success with it. It's very user friendly and is capable of doing all that I need.
I thought I'd upgrade to the more current version of the software. After poking around in it for a couple weeks, with it being incredibly unfriendly, user-wise, I ended up going back to 12, and the different is night and day. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

It came in a little kit with a CD, installation instructions, and the activation key. I didn't need the CD at all and assume it is for PCs with no internet connection however internet is required to activate the software anyways. When I signed up for MAGIX and entered the activation key they sent me an email with a link to download the software. The whole download/installation process was easy and straightforward... however to install the software does take some time. It took at least an hour before I could use it.
There are tons of effects and transitions to choose from within the software. I am used to using a different video software on my phone, so I was worried I wasn't going to easily figure it out too, but this software is easy to use which is great for me.
It's a quality video editing software and it does the job... I recommend it!
