ok, for the money, its a very good photo editing program
but..
i think the older version i had, 2017 Pro, was easier to use over all.
i dont want this "coming on" every time i open a photo, and have yet to see how to turn that feature off.
for the "pro" version, it seems somehow "lighter" in features vs my older one, despite what i read as "additional features".

it does do a good job, if you want to tweak colors individually, add this or that filter from the modest list you get.
its a CHEAP alternative to Adobe Photoshop.. but.. maybe too cheap >> ?? i think Adobe Elements ? might be.. $199 ?? vs this at $79..?? not clear the cheaper price is worth the lack of features for editing.

you might not WANT or need a "Robust' photo editor,, which this ISNT..
but, it does have enough tools to make it very useful for the average person.
controls arent that hidden, but you do need some familiarity with a photo editor, to work your way around.
it has some simple " auto fix" buttons, which are useful, but, not always the best choice ( in my opinion only ) for the desired results.
very cheap.. has useful features, once you use it a while, it is easier to navigate to what you want to use/do to your photos

but, it is light on other features, depth of filters and additional effects... its $800 less than Full Adobe Photoshop. so yea.. it HAS to be light on various things..

I loved my original Paintshop Photo Pro X3 that I used for Win 7. Unfortunately I was forced to upgrade since it didn't support Win10 now that I upgraded my PC. So I went all out and got the latest and greatest Paintshop Pro 2022 Ultimate version, figuring it had to be significantly better than my old X3 version from 2010. Shockingly, it looks pretty much the same, but that was ok because I easily picked it up rather quickly. Here's a problem I immediately found : With my old version, you could put a layer on top of another layer and then slowly erase the top layer, move it around, erase some more (or un-erase to get the image back again) and slowly merge the two images by erasing, moving, and UN-erasing till the image looked good before merging them together. Now, with the new version, if you erase the top image and then MOVE IT ever so slightly and then try to un-erase it....forget it....the software forgets what was erased and its gone for good. You have to undo your changes back to before you moved it, move it first, and then attempt to un-erase it. It's too much of a pain. Something that was so flawless and natural is now difficult. Before, you could erase and un-erase all day long no matter how many times you moved the layers around. This is critical when trying to blend images together. Another one is that you used to be able to move your mouse to anywhere on the picture and then use your scroll wheel to zoom in or out. Simple. Now it doesn't do that, you need to scroll with the side bar, or bottom bar. Instead of improving on a quality product, it's worse than before. I was hoping after 10 years the opacity tool had more resolution in it as well. Just like 10 years ago, you have to set the opacity to like 2% to really slowly blend two images together. Jump it up to 5% and its way too much. I'm just disappointed. Come on now.....it's been over 10 years and this is what you've become?.......

I got this program. I'm finally able to sit down and get it uploaded to computer. And it won't upload. Any of the files. This was a waste of money. I even bought the book. So double whammy on me. Wish I could have at least tried it.

The positive is you get the manual on-line. There are also tutorials that show you how things should go. It seems to be a little more work than a novice like me really wants or needs. I am just now getting into this software so to be fair it may be better than I currently am saying it is. I am going to give it a chance in hopes that I can make some of my not so good photos, great. If you don't like a manual on-line, they have a how to book but it is kind of expensive and shouldn't be needed.
