I have used TurboTax Mac download for several years. I was a bit nervous reading the reviews, but I had no trouble downloading, installing and running this on my Mac with Mojave 10.14.5. They do say that it won't work next year without an upgraded operating system. Good to know. Pay attention to the operating system requirements.

I've been using TurboTax for my own tax returns for many years. I've been a volunteer AARP TaxAide, doing tax returns for people using other software required by the IRS and I find TurboTax to be much easier and less prone to sending me off in wrong directions. You still need to have all your documentation ready, and particularly in the case of home and business, be prepared to spend quite a bit of time, but it's still easier than any other software I've tried.
If your return is simple, you should be aware that the IRS provides free preparation software (including a free version of TurboTax) but somehow this doesn't get much in the way of promotion. Similarly, if your income is low and your return will be simple, AARP and other organizations will do it for you for free. Otherwise, TurboTax is probably the best choice.

Pretty simple to input information. This is the fifth year that I have used Turbotax so data from past years was available and helpful. I had been filing my own taxes without either personal or software assistance since 1966. Using a documented tax software and electronically filing is much less painful that than trying to stay ahead of tax law changes and ensuring correct forms and documentation. For the cost Turbotax allowed me to complete in a only hours what had been days or even weeks of back and forth on getting correct forms, instructions and supporting documentation.

I run a small business as an independent contractor. I've used TurboTax for over ten years. I can do my taxes year after year and my previous years info rolls over to get my current year started including carryover depreciations. I can also produce 1099MISC for independent contractors that worked for me each year. Add the e-file features and taxes are too easy. The product is thorough, walks you through most every conceivable tax situation, and in the end saves you time. If your income is under $150k , this is probably all you will ever need.

Have used TurboTax for 10+ years, but this year it does not install on Max w/Big Sur 11.1 OS. On installation, it says verifying that fails. Restart / Reboot / Re-download & install does not work -> same failure. It never gets to any user interface -> just runs and stops. Per other comments that said 'fixed' the problem, I tried installing & running under the System Admin login (even though my login has admin privileges) that did not work. I tried created a brand new user and install -> again did not work. One suggestion was a separate external hard drive -> but I don't have one, so can not try that. I have also disabled all malware checking (e.g. AVG) -> again no go. Per other comments, it would appear that Intuit support is not worth calling, so I am at a loss for what to do, not to mention having thrown away money because you can't a refund from Amazon on purchased 3rd party software.

*Follow-up*
Contacted Turbo-tax. They were very helpful and confirmed that the software downloaded from Amazon did not work. They provided a direct link to working software and helped me to get it installed on my Mac. It is now working!
Moral of the story: Do not buy Turbotax through Amazon, rather go directly to Turbotax web site and purchase there!

I was concerned because of other reviewers whether this would work with the new MacBook Pro/Big Sur. I'm new to Mac and have bought the Turbo Tax disc for years for my PC. I downloaded it yesterday. It installed very fast and updated fast. I transferred last years tax file from my PC and it imposed the data with no issues. I opened it up again today and everything appears to be working flawlessly. I'm self employed so it'll take me a few months to complete my return but I have full confidence this will work like always.

As with previous tax year versions, this is easy to use yet accurate. Makes electronic filing very easy and in this edition, Federal e-filing is included in the price. Great that State income tax is also calculated but bummer that the fee for e-filing is extra (and somewhat significant) so manual print and postal mailing is still the best for State filing. Very nice that a warning is being provided for next yearʻs edition (tax year 2021) requiring Mac OSX 15 -Catalina so that thereʻs a whole year to work on getting personal computer operating system updated to be able to use the 2021 tax year edition.

12 years and counting. Good, reasonably priced software for small business owners.

Only thing I wish was present was the ability to manage inventory. Quicken clearly designed this software more for service and rental businesses. My workaround is to place all inventory purchases in "Materials" and assign the materials category to Cost of Good Sold on Schedule C. Then I manage my inventory outside of Quicken using a spreadsheet I purchased from Paper & Spark.
