I purchased this software every year to do my tax return. This year, I can’t find this at department store which is significant cheaper. However, I found this on Amazon.

The software is easy to use but I prefer the Web version more. The layout is little bit different between the two but it is not significant.

Turbo Tax provides ease to sync all my stock from broker. I have no problem to import my 1099B and1099Div to Turbo Tax.

If your employer used payroll program, it will automatically sync your W-2 w/o any problems.
Compared fo H&R Block, Turbo Tax is way easier to use, so it can justify the price.

Something to note that , State E-file is not included.
You have to print to file or you have to pay $25 to use E-file. That is only add-on which increases the cost.

Taxes filed and refund in the bank already. This year seemed to work much better than last year, most likely since the forms did not change as much last year and I am getting used to it after many filings. Question on crypto was included and detail will be needed next year to handle taxes on Bitcoins and I hope that they offer a service like Its Deductible to detail and download crypto trades and income or include ability to download spreadsheet files from Coinbase and BlockFi, Gemini. I suspect we will not see this for a while, but hopefully someone from Intuit is paying attention. For people who loose income this year (2021) and qualify for Biden Cash I hope there is support to file retroactively. I wish there was built in support within the software so that I did not have to go out to the interweb to find out how to navigate the details like IRA, Roth withdrawals, the web based ecosystem of help is a little sketchy at times and I would prefer more definitive help tutorials built into the downloaded software for each form. Also the instructions for printing and saving filed pdf and .tax backups to a USB thumbdrive and making copies of return for planning purposes next year should be clearer. If you do not have a good understanding of the Apple file system and don't do a lot of online searching you will have a difficult time. Google searches helped in this regard being careful to use valid sources. I just wish the support was built into the download!

From a tax perspective, TurboTax does a decent job. My main issue with the product is the auto-update mechanism. As you might expect, program updates (bug fixes) are fairly important for this software, and it’s not unusual to have to update every time you run the software in the middle of tax season (as they find issues). Unfortunately, this year and last year, I ran into issues with the updates. This year, when I first ran the program after downloading, it indicated that an update was required. It was downloaded, the program quit and then nothing. I waited a while to see if anything would happen, but nothing. When trying to run, it crashed immediately. I had to root through TurboTax’s “community” to find a page that showed everything that had to be deleted to completely uninstall and then I tried again. Luckily, the installation was OK the second time around. Last year, in the middle of tax season, I had a similar issue that led me to actually have to contact their tech support and they gave me a new license code for a fresh install from their site (the Amazon installer just did not want to work and would not update).

I use TurboTax every year because of inertia and my employer reimburses me for the expense of the software and filing fees. If I had to pay myself, I might be looking elsewhere. One thing that bugs me a bit is that OneDrive seems to interfere with TurboTax. I keep my tax files in a folder that is synced to OneDrive, and if I forget to pause OneDrive while using TurboTax, I get regular prompts indicating that TurboTax could not auto-save, but clicking on the save button saves the file. Considering how ubiquitous cloud file systems are, I’m surprised that they haven’t figured out how to play nice with that software. If I did the web software, I guess I wouldn’t have to worry about update issues and cloud sync issues. However, the download allows me to prepare tax returns for my family without paying extra.

This is the ONLY WAY TO GO!! Seriously, I've used it for several years. All of your info carries forward, if you need help you can call and they will help you. Preparing the return, it goes through step by step with easy to understand directions. You can easily update/change your return while working on it.
A little background, I was super busy in 2016, and thought I would just go down the street. I made the HUGE error of going to local Liberty Tax office and was charged over $1000 for my return because of all of the schedules. They charge by the schedule. Which makes sense, however, with Turbo Tax, it's all the same price. Additionally, that place charges if there is an error you need to correct. ( I accidentally counted a loan as income on my schedule C) They wanted another $145 to change that on my schedule C. Never again. I immediately went back to Turbo Tax for 2017, 2018, 2019. This year, 2020...because our return is so complicated, I am going to try their LIVE version. Been using the Premiere version. I'll probably update my review.
