Purchased in February 2023.
The software is downloaded via Amazon and the serial number is supplied at the time of order (it’s also sent in an e-mail). Installation was simple and you are prompted to enter the serial number during the installation process to register your copy.
The version supplied is apparently the latest and is dated 19-Feb-2008 (Version 5.2d Build 240). The included manual - PDF format (~108 pages) is dated 30-Jan-2008. While you may think the software is a little old, given it is now February 2023, making the software **15 years old **, it is a pleasure to use, and it just works. :)
I'm using WINDOWS 11 and have burnt CDs without any problems. You can burn CDs that obey the strict 'Red Book' Digital Audio CD standard (there is also an option to disable Red Book standard if you wish). Overall, I am very pleased Amazon continue to make this software available. It’s a credit to the people that wrote SONY CD Architect that is still works perfectly after 15 years. 5 Stars!

No other product does what Sony CD Architect does

Sony CD Architect is easy to use and provides the ability to produce CD content that complies with Red Book standards. No other product on the market does what Sony CD Architect does. The reason I purchased it is that my old computer crashed and I had not saved my license key or the software installation app, and did not remember where I bought from many years ago. So, I opted to buy a new copy for my new PC.

Have Used This For Many Years

I have used this program for many years. However, I moved, bought a new computer and didn't have the original seriel number. Very easy and intuitive with many features, many of which I may never use. This is my favorite program for creating new CD's. Only negative is it uses DX Plugins as opposed to VST. Unless there is a workaround that I am not aware of. Excellent program at a very good price point.

No authorization code

CD Architect is a product I've used for years. Not being able to access the usual plugins, was never a problem as I always did mastering outside the program. Not sure why, but suddenly, it came up as being unauthorized. Reentering the authorization code, went nowhere. You'd think Sony would at least leave a server portal open, to service previous customers in such situations, but they didn't. Only recourse... buy again which I did thru Amazon. This isn't a complaint, just describing a situation. After purchase, waited for authorization codes to show up in email. None. Poked around further and according to Amazon, the authorization code could be found by accessing my "your software and games library." But the only item there, was the CD Architect exe download. Long Amazon chat ensued. The end of which, I was informed "the authorization code has to be issued by the developer, Sony!" Again, no complaints as Amazon issued a refund. However, sure am curious how the more recent CD Architect buyers, got theirs authorized?

Amazing CD Writing Software

Sony Architect is an excellent CD writing application with various qualitative functions that are easy to use. It's intuitive and works well with no perceptable inconsistancies. Very easy for a beginner and even more so for the experienced. The GUI is very professional and makes it simple to manipulate.

I would have normally given this software 5 stars without thinking about it. The three stars have nothing to do with the product, and everything to do with the developer.

Be careful what you do with it.
