Will-Writing Software
The heart of every estate plan is a will, also known as a last will and testament. This legal document puts you in control of who inherits your property and who would take care of your children if it were ever necessary. Without a will, state law determines these issues.*
*Documents reflect the laws of your state - estate planning documents are not valid in Canada, Louisiana and US Territories
Making a will rarely involves complicated legal rules. If you're like most people, you won't need a lawyer. With good do-it-yourself materials, it's not difficult to make a will that takes care of basic concerns, such as leaving a home, investments, a small business, and personal items to your loved ones.
With Quicken WillMaker Plus 2019 you can:
- Revise and update your will whenever you like
- Appoint guardians for your children and pets
- Name an executor (or 'personal representative') to carry out our wishes.
- Appoint a trusted person to manage property left to young people
Living Trust Software
How Do Living Trusts Avoid Probate?
For many Americans, a significant goal of estate planning is to avoid probate. A revocable living trust, unlike a will, offers a fast, private, probate-free way to transfer one's property after death. Although a living trust is not a complete substitute for a will (it doesn't allow you to name a guardian for a child, for example), it is definitely a more efficient way to transfer property at death, especially large-ticket items such as a house. A Living Trust will ensure that your property bypasses lengthy and expensive probate proceedings.
A living trust is about as easy to prepare as a will. Do-it-yourself and save hundreds of dollars on attorney fees.

Durable Power of AttorneyName someone you trust to take care of financial matters. A durable power of attorney ensures that someone you trust (called your 'agent' or 'attorney-in-fact') will be on hand to manage the many practical, financial tasks that will arise, such as paying bills, if you become incapacitated. |
Health Care Directive or Living WillSpare your loved ones difficult decisions by laying out your wishes for medical care and naming someone to carry out your instructions. State what types of medical treatment you do or do not want if you are too ill or injured to direct your own care. |
Final ArrangementsPlan a funeral or other ceremony and ease the burden on your loved ones. Describe your preferences for burial, cremation, memorials, obituaries and more. |
Letters to SurvivorsUse the Letter to Survivors to leave your loved ones detailed explanations about your decisions. For example, you may want to let them know why you made certain gifts, named a particular person to be your executor or leave some general thoughts about your life. |

Top reviews from the United States
If you go to an attorney I am quite sure they have software where they have a paralegal or an assistant fill in the blanks and then charge you outrageous fees.
From the documents I have seen from attorneys, the custom documents created by Willmaker seem to be more comprehensive and allow for more variables.
I think partly it comes down to your trust in Intuit. I have been using their products for business accounting and income tax for many years and I have 100% confidence that they wouldn't put out a defective product.
The documents are more or less in plan English and I doubt they could be contested. The only issue is with Willmaker I might not know unless the Living Will or Durable Power of Attorney for Finances are executed.
But again I feel confident the custom documents are legally correct and specific to my states laws.
If you have a simple technical question such as "How do I make an almost identical copy for my wife?", you are on your own.
Their Technical Support is NON-EXISTENT. There is no easy way to contact them. I finally was able to ask a question online but 3 days later and SILENCE.
Their Technical Support is "We have your money, you are on your own, Good Luck".
Finally got through to someone in customer service at NOLO. I told the young lady that it appeared as though Microsoft.NET Framework 4.7 would not load. She claimed they couldn't help and I would have to contact Microsoft. I did and after working with a Microsoft customer service representative in India, for over an hour, and being forced to give her control of my computer, she determined that the Microsoft.NET Framework 4.7 that NOLO had on my CD was somehow corrupted. She then downloaded a version directly from Microsoft and we were finally able to get WillMaker Plus 2019 to install. I haven't tried to use it yet so I still can't comment on the quality of the software, but obviously installation was an annoying experience.
This has recieved good reviews but was worthless to me, for what I intended.
To their credit, my return was processed quickly and my account was credited back, so I have no other issues.
