Not sure what other reviewers thought they were buying, but this is the legit product, not a pirated version. This was my main concern. Many folks don't see the benefit of the subscription, as though technology doesn't change. Trying to edit 4k or even 1080p video on a 15 year old version of this software is just plain torture for the editor and viewers alike. People want the product to work and be updated, but they expect the updates free forever without any consideration of paying the people to do the work.
The subscription model makes the most sense since it costs less for the subscription than the perpetual license of constantly decaying software.
I purchased PowerDirector 365 only because I do not use PhotoDirector or any of the other software they bundle with the suite. I edit videos for social media (which pays me very little) so I don't want to put a lot of time or a lot of money into the content I make. The less time it takes me to produce content, the more content I can make. The more content I can make, the more money I can make. The more time and money I spend, the more it costs me financially.
I've been using PowerDirector for over a decade and I always like having the latest version. If I were buying the perpetual license every year (so I can render the latest encoding videos from the latest cameras at the latest resolutions, 3D and panoramic, 8k, 360degree videos and now AI) I need to have the latest version of the software to do that and it would cost me twice as much as the subscription. Plus I get monthly updates and added features at no additional charge throughout the subscription period, including free cloud storage space (that I don't use) access to user created add-ons in their forums and all the tech support I need at NO ADDITIONAL COST.
I honestly have no idea what the negative reviewers thought they were buying, but please know this is the REAL software and PLEASE educate yourself about WHAT you are buying BEFORE you buy it to avoid any buyers remorse or regret.
Okay, now I have to go back to editing another video with the software I've been using for years, as social media pays me less and less while I have more content and viewers than I've ever had, I don't have time to learn new software and this version of PowerDirector works exactly the same way as older versions, only now it has more features and costs less!
