5.0 out of 5 stars In some ways, better than a live teacher
Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2013
This course is amazing. I'm just getting started with bass and have known about it for some time. Features are unbelievable. With perfect accuracy, even tells me when I'm off key or off tempo. I can change temp as needed, pause at will, and absolutely go at my own pace. I can repeat the same lessons as needed. I've had guitar lessons, and being a good musician doesn't make you a good teacher......it's a whole different skill set. The instructor kept trying to get me to progress more quickly than my ability allowed. I've used the old Guitar Method DVD, which is good, but limited in content and features. This course is light years ahead of it. Young or old (I'm 72), if you find learning to play a stringed instrument difficult, this course may be your salvation. I can't say enough good things about it......I'm not sure I'd have tried to learn bass without it. I'm getting the Singing Method next.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mustache Guy from 70's

Old old fashioned software. The mustache guy who presents the classes is from the 70's. I loose interest in the first 5 minutes. May will work for beginners who really can't distinguish between a bass guitar and a shove.

The product works great, but my son is impatient (wants to be able to play free bird the first day), so he has already quit using it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great bass lesson program BUT spiritual church ballads, old fashioned folk songs, and outdated music ugggggg
Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2013
The song choices are mostly all for for a very long ago era.
This program has potential, BUT most of the music is not for me (except for songs listed in the product description).

Here is an example of how old fashioned and lame the lyrics are of the featured songs:
"All day, all night, Marianne, down by the sea side siftin' sand. Even the little children love Marianne down by the sea side siftin' sand."
There are 4 pages of lessons based on this song. The lessons are great, but the song itself is awful so practicing the lessons is misery. SO BUMMED. :(

I was SO EXCITED to use this, but there is no way I can practice along this music with so many old fashioned church ballads. I will type some out below. If you can handle these, great, get this program. If not, you will end up sadly wasting your $ like me,

So yes, the bass lessons themselves, and the bass lines, are very good.
BUT
you really have to be cool with this type of music because you have to listen and play over and over to practice. I could not handle the music personally. I wish this had been disclosed before I spent the $. How about some good, classic, popular religiously neutral songs eMedia?

Some of the other songs:
Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping? Brother John, Brother John.
Morning bells are ringing, morning bells are ringing. Ding, ding, don; ding, ding, don.

Love, oh love oh careless love, oh love, oh love, oh careless love. My love was one to kiss and run, you see what careless love has done.

Will the circle be unbroken by and by, Lord, by and by? There is a better home a waiting in the sky, Lord, in the sky.

Swing low sweet chariot, comin' for to carry me home. (repeat)
I looked over Jordan and what did I see, comin' for to carry me home.
A band of angels comin' after me, comin' for to carry me home.
Swing low sweet chariot, comin' for to carry me home. (repeat)

Down in the valley, valley so low, late in the evening, hear the wind blow.
Hear the wind blow, dear, hear the wind blow, late in the evening, hear the wind blow.

She'll be comin' round the mountain when she comes.
She'll be comin' round the mountain,
she'll be comin' round the mountain,
she'll be comin' round the mountain when she comes.
She'll be puffin' and a blowin' when she comes. (repeat like above)

AND more, just like these....
Many of these songs have pages and pages of lessons on them.

Good program gets you started on the right path to being a bass player, follow this and you will be playing in no time. The program listens and lets you know if you are playing the right notes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great software!
Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2012
I'm a more "let me see how you play it then I can play it" type of guy. And this software does that for me by showing me what string and what fret to use while the music is playing. Learning simplified.
