    So close, but... Watching the tutorial helps but this program is far from intuitive. Really wish there was a way to convert maps to pdf files. I'll keep using it, but there are a lot of ways this could be improved.

    This is a good mapping program. I use it
    frequently as it allows one to see the migration of one's family through the ages. Lots of fun. The place names are not always recognized by the program but there is a way to correct them. Its too bad it only goes back to year one AD. It won't map any people or places that date BCE.

    I like the idea of the software. So far still trying to figure out the interface. Labeling points has been a frustrating endeavor.

    Disappointing. Very awkward to use. Only useful if the family you're working on has migrated across lots of places. If your people went from Germany to Philadelphia and settled in Pa, it's virtually useless.

    It appears that this software is no longer supported. I used the help menu to check for updates and also to go to the website. Neither link is functional. The most recent review, other than this, is about 6 years old. The atlas detail includes county names in the United States, but does not include cities. Having imported Gedcoms from Roots Magic, locations are often incorrect. Examples: New England was placed in South Africa, La Puente, California and Ohio are placed in South America. These are not coordinates I entered. If someone in Roots Magic was born in Ohio (no town included), the place of birth might be shown as South America. I found instructions on deleting a marker that says to highlight the marker and press delete. This does not work, as the marker will not "highlight." There are several other "bugs" (?). I like the time slider, but given the other issues, I'm not sure how accurate it is. In general, the software is disappointing -- I would not recommend it.

    Family Atlas works very well in pulling in the information from a genealogy program. It is an excellent resource for verifying place names and recognizes obsolete place names, giving the current name as well. This feature was especially useful to me, as many of my ancestors lived in towns in areas of Europe that have changed countries. The main product is a world map, however, you can zoom in on a section of the map to produce a map of that portion of the world. The map you produce can be exported to a word processing program, so you can insert the map into your family history story.
