justice & equality for Mac users!!

I ordered this program after becoming very frustrated with PrintShop for Mac. It was vastly inferior to the PC version; quirky in general and providing only a fraction of the PC version's art. In contrast, the Printmaster Platinum uses the same installation CD for both PC and Mac. Installation was a breeze. I am flabbergasted at the huge selection of art and graphics provided. So far it has been very easy to use, leaving the aforementioned PrintShop for Mac in the dust!! So glad I searched it out.

Broderbund was the pioneer in the DIY home computer make your own ___ (card, banner, calendar, flyer etc. etc.) game. In those days, you needed a program disc, a data disc and assorted clip-art discs. You either swapped discs or bought multiple drives. Tedious doesn’t begin to explain the process. What you got out was pretty cool for its time: dot matrix cards & such (color if you could afford it).

PrintMaster has some of the old elements, such as not liking multiple projects open at on time, ability to slide graphics from one page to others (I used PageMaker for years and it could do miracles in desktop publishing). So PrintMaster tends to be kind of klutzy. You need to go back and forth a lot, almost like swapping discs in the dinosaur years.

With that caveat, it’s a very good and usable program for the price. There just aren’t many affordable user-friendly publishing programs still around. If you are looking for high resolution, you might save your pennoes for an Adobe product. 300 dpi is the highest resolution in PrintMaster.

I use this for making cards and scrapbooking all the time it is a great tool on the computer but it doesn't work on the Mac

Bought Printmaster Platinum 2012 for my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.8 -- It will not install, There are no error messages. Tried to contact Broderbund three times. I have had absolutely no response. I recommend staying away from Broderbund products due to a total lack of support response in any form. I would think they would have a patch for 10.8 by this time. My feeling is they believe they do not have to deign to support customers who have purchased their products.

Frustrating without instructions

There are no instructions and I had a major problem with printing. Every time I printed one thing, it would lock up my computer. Finally, after days of playing with this, I tried preview before printing and it finally worked without a lock up. Very frustrating and waste of time. Never had this problem with the old program but needed to upgrade because of windows7.

Easy to install, easy to use. I like the option of the project al ready made even thou I don't used them it gives me an idea of what I can do with the colors, fonts proportions and contrast.. It has every thing I need. had no problems with it.

Warn Mac users

Even though it says it works on a Mac, it doesn't work with the new OS. Encore had to send me a download of the program that works on my Mac. They were very gracious and did not charge me. The description should warn about that.
