4.0 out of 5 stars Great Operating System.

There is a learning curve if you have never used Linux. Plenty of free software and almost everything I need. I do have a few programs that I had bought that are not compatible but I have another computer with those on them. If you are going to do a duel boot using a windows product along with ubuntu then you need to install the windows os first and then you can partition the disc for ubuntu. once you load ubuntu to a new disc it is impossible to do a duel setup from there. I had to pay someone to uninstall it for me. It is a very lite package compared to any windows os out there. Very fast boot time also. I would have given it 5 stars but for the learning curve and not having the duel boot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hassle-free and well supported Linux

This is one of several DVDs of operating systems I have gotten from LinuxFreak. Once again, I was far from disappointed. It arrived rapidly, was well packaged for shipping; and installed without problems. When I bought it, this version of Ubuntu was newly released; so I was especially happy that this DVD came with a 'hard copy' installation guide, too. That way, I knew what to expect onscreen as the system installed. Two additional pluses come with this version. 1) Ubuntu is one of the most user-friendly Linux distros. 2) 14.04, known as Trusty Tahr, is Long Term Support. That means that you will be able to get upgrades for a longer period of time than a non-LTS release. Finally, LinuxFreak did the work to make sure the contents were "glitch free" before they recorded it to disc. (I had tried several times to download it from several sources before I sent for it on DVD.) P.S.: This DVD also comes in a 32-bit version for older computers, if that's what you need...now that Windows XP is gone.

4.0 out of 5 stars the installation went pretty well after the third or fouth attempt

Being new to linux, and ubuntu, the installation went pretty well after the third or fouth attempt. It did not load right away because the newer computers don't boot automatically from the cd drive, but the ubuntu dvd had a program that kick in and solved the problem. So yes I would recommend this product for first time ubuntu users.

1.0 out of 5 stars You do realize that you can download this for free, right?

I would be leery of purchasing software - especially operating systems - from third parties. It is always best to go to the source. In this case, the manufacturer makes it available for free on its website via direct download or torrent. With third party distributions, it is far too trivial for malicious code to be inserted. Of course, I am not saying that this reseller has done any such thing. It is merely an added risk. And you can always burn it to your own DVD or USB for far less than the asking price of this seller.

2.0 out of 5 stars DVD does not read on 4 laptops... except as "blank disk".

...Bad Deal for me. I've run Linux distributions since the early 1990's. I can not easily download a copy. I boight this one.
...I have 4 laptops, one with Windows, one with Ubuntu, one with Linux Mint, and one with Suse. None of them recognize this DVD at startup!!! All of them tell me this is a blank disk. All of them recognize other DVDs and CDs.
...Meanwhile, coming here to contact "Sir Tanon", I find no way to phone call or email. What's the deal, here?
