As advertised, this 7 CD-ROM set contains ALL MAD Magazines ever printed from #1 through 1998 issues. I was especially interested in the very early mags - the ones that wound up in the paperback book reprints ('Utterly MAD', 'The MAD Reader', etc.). BIG pleasant surprise! These early mags were in color! (The books were B/W). Also, the system requirements were Windows 95/98, but works faultlessly with Win XP. So, color me pleased!

Great collection; some minor disappointmernts.

I really like the breadth of this collection of Mad magazine back issues. There are two small disappointments: 1) the relatively low resolution of the magazine pages and 2) the archaisms of the user interface. The relatively low resolution of the magazine pages will not hinder you from enjoying these old MAD issues. However, I like to closely examine the original art work of those issues drawn by Wally Wood, Will Elder, Jack Davis, and others. Some of the early magazine covers, i.e. from the July 1955 issue through the December 1956 issue, had covers edged with tiny drawings of all sorts of interesting things...but the resolution is a bit too weak to bring them into clear view. The archaisms of the interface are due to the era in which this set was produced - 1999. Perhaps it will be attempted again in the future. In any case, I'm happy I was able to get this version.

Unfortunately it's in 8-bits so won't read in Windows 7 pro

When I owned an XP it was great, but this reeally NEEDS to be updated to be read in Windows 7 and up. This is why I am paying the $350 or so for a bound, printed copy of issues 1-23, and then collecting all the magazines in the new format one-at-a-time from various sources (many $1,000's of dollars later).

Got this copy, because I lost my own copy when I got divorced. This edition covers most of the years I am interested in. That writing and art were of a unique quality for the time.

Awesome product for the price

This product is over 10 years old and was written for Windows 98, NT etc. for OS at that time, HOWEVER, this program and all features work super on my Windows 7 Pro operating system, installed quickly and looks perfect on my 23 inch monitor, many programs written for Win 98 will not run on today's operating systems, however this one is an exception, and I am glad it is..Ozzy, North Ridgeville, Ohio

First, the bad news. There is a certain feature on the disks that is not compatible with Windows Vista. Thus, when the video clips play of interviews with the staff of Mad magazine, you will be able to hear it, but not see it.

Now the good news. The product is what it says. EVERY ISSUE OF MAD MAGAZINE FROM ISSUE 1 THROUGH 1994!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It even comes with a feature that does the mad fold-in for you. It has a nice Search engine, so you can search for articles in Mad. If you are a fan of Mad magazine, this is a must have!

I purchased this used. It came five days later and it is as good as new.

Beware - Abandonware!

Several caveats to be aware of before purchasing:
- This product is no longer supported by anyone! Very typical of entertainment grade software.
- This product was designed to work under Windows 9x and Windows NT (!). It will install under Windows 2000 and presumably Windows XP.
- The format of the content is proprietary and unique to this product. You MUST use the supplied viewer software.
- The content seems to be stored in a reasonably high resolution. The viewer lets you zoom in, select, copy and print.

Brings back old memories...

I feel in love with MAD at an early age. Actually my local Air Force base library carried it so i read every issue in the early 90's. MAD got me interested in politics actually, hahah.

Anyway, this is great CD rom. It's got everything until 1998 which is fine with me, I reckon MAD jumped the shark shortly after.

So many memories. Great buy.
