Just plain awesome.. For years I've been struggling with unreliable tape backup hardware and wanted to switch to DVD-RW as a storage medium. After much research I stumbled across BackupMyPC and gave it a shot. It works exactly as advertised, and is VERY easy to configure and use.
The software supports a number of storage medium including DVDs and CDs. You can backup from network drives (although I don't believe the software will install on NT Server or 2000 Server software). No problem, just install it on a workstation and backup from the network. Works like a charm!
No real complaints. In fact you'll find more uses for it after you purchase it!

I don't own this product but I was sold by the mfr's website info but thought I'd better check the product out here before I buy. Well, after reading about the lack of Customer Service response, as well as the loading and opening of software problems, I don't think I want to buy this product. The version offered here is 4.71 but the mfr has upgrades to v4.8. The problem I have with this is later on you may be eligible for an upgrade if you originally purchased the v4.8 but not for v4.7x. I want the latest version possible when I buy. No thanks, I'll pass on this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good user interface but does not work well for me
I like that this software is very intuitive. You do not need to read long, complicated manuals to start using it - it is all pretty much self-explanatory - and with the backup wizard, which takes you step-by-step, it is even easier.
Which is good because I do not rate their manual very highly. It gives little background information. For example, it does not tell you what exactly the difference is between a backup file created with the "Backup New and Changed Files only / Append" option, and the "Backup New and Changed Files only / Overwrite" option. While it looks pretty straightforward at first glance, it really isn't when you have to decide which route to take.
As to their customer support: No, they definitely don't shine. I wrote them an e-mail many weeks ago because the manual that came with the program had whole sections double while others were missing - I never received a response from them. To be fair though: When I finally called them I received a replacement in the mail very quickly.
By the way, I am experiencing regularly reboots during backup jobs - no error messages, which gets old very quickly. The one solution offered in their discussion forum didn't work, and so far no response from their support.
I take it from other reviews here that "when it works it works great". But it seems to be relatively unreliable for me, so combined with their poor support and the really very little support information posted on their website, I am only giving it 2 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Backup MyPC
Software works great. The only complaint I have is that you can not schedule backups to occur when you are logged off the system. Their solution seems to be to put the computer in "Standby" and set the scheduler to "wake" the sytem to perform the backup. This is not a viable solution for a system that needs to be visible as a network resource. I would like to schedule my backups to occur during the night, but I can't because if I logg off (for security reasons) the backup does not run. If I put it in "stanby" my computer is no longer available to other users. I know this is designed more for the home user, but it wouldn't have killed them to include a more flexible scheduler.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good
I've been backing up since the preferred media was a cassett tape. Backup software is a black art to be sure... NTI has been very problematic on mine (Ath 1600+, 512ram, XP Pro) and Stomp is aces. It saw my Liteon 40x12x48x no problem (4.71 & 4.81 both). It will span media, just that a stupid window can make it seem like it won't. Go ahead and burn. As to complaings about cust serv, if you still believe in O/L help (in all but the rarest), I have a tooth fairy to sell you.

5.0 out of 5 stars BackUp My Pc is everything it is advertised to be........
I was looking for a back up program that would work with Windows XP Home. I did my homework by searching and checking out all the available back up programs on the internet. I also checked to see if my RW and CD and ScanDisk drivers were listed in the compatable drive section of their website. After having downloaded a trial copy from Stomp website I found that it worked perfectly with my computer and system. I then ordered the software from Amazon.com and it works just great. No trouble downloading and preforming a complete back up of my hard drive. I backed up 11.3 GB in 4 hrs. and 30 minutes which took 17 cd's for the 87,393 files. This time also included the formating of the CD's and the verifying of the data. Not a single error.
I can recommend it highly that is if your cdrw and hard drive and other drives are compatable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Reliable
Do not rely on this product for backups. It backs up some files to a zero length file which means you see your file backed up but it is really empty and useless. It also skips files within backups willy nilly. You can backup an entire set of folders and files and think it was succesful. Upon review you find numerous missing folders and file.I have experimented with the configuration extensively but MyPCBackup is a ONE STAR product.

...THE FIRST COPY OF BACKUP MYPC WOULD NOT LOAD. BACKUP MYPC WORKS VERY WELL ON WIN98SE HOWEVER WE HAVE JUST CHANGED OVER TO WIN2000PRO AND IT IS DEFINATLY NO GOOD FOR DISASTER RECOVERY FOR THIS OS. IT TAKES SIX 1.44 FLOPPIES, THE WIN2000 INSTALL DISK AND MY BACKUP SETS TO GET THE SYSTEM UP. THEN THERE WERE ERRORS REPORTED. ACTUALLY IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER, EXCEPT FOR DATA, TO DO A NEW INSTALL. SINCE THEN WE HAVE USED NORTON GHOST... REASONABLE PRICE. THIS SOFTWARE IS AWSOME FOR WIN2000 USERS. IT BACKS UP DRIVE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO MULTIPLE CDRS...
