I did not get to wash the bottle the first time I used it until 24 hours later. When I dumped the remaining water and ice out, the ice was hardly melted. The insulation properties of the bottle are excellent. On the other side of that, no frost on the outside to drip all over my desk at work. It looks great and works even better. 40 ozs is just right for me for an eight hour work day. It came with three straws and if there is such a thing as heavy duty straws, these are it. The bottom compartments are just right for pills or drink mix or hydration packets. I am very pleased with this item. It exceeded my expectations.
