Thankfully I haven't had to use this on anyone yet but I have tested a couple sprays and it works well. It squirts really far. It's a stream that comes out, it's not the foam or the spray. The cap protects it from being sprayed while in my purse but also allows you to slide your thumb under it to press the button very quickly if you need to. I was looking at all different ones before I bought this brand and I'm glad I stuck with this one in the end. The color is pretty too, it's exactly as pictured.

Bought this for my gf and she really liked the color. Also the button and lock mechanism is really simple and effective on this one vs other pepper sprays i’ve had.

After practicing with the POM spray, mainly on acquiring the grip with the nozzle pointed the right way, I decided I needed something more ergonomic, easier to tell which way it was pointed by feel. This was what I chose and I'm largely satisfied with it. The upper finger depression could be a smidge more pronounced to keep you from putting a finger over the nozzle, but it is 5x better in this regard than the symmetrical POM cylinder. With a little practice I was quickly getting it in firing grip without having to look. And it is Sabre brand so it should be reliable in performance.

I like and carry a Sabre spray in my car and pocket. The one I use and prefer is the one with the plastic clip on the side and has the tab that rotates on the top. I cut the clip off on the one carried in my pocket. I tried this one because of the so called safety of the flip top and that makes perfect sense. However after carrying this one for a while It took me longer to orient it while pulling it out of my pocket. The one with the rotating tab on top was always in position as I pulled it out. The tab was the feature that allowed me orient the position by feel. This one is nice and smooth and slides in and out of a tight pocket but that very smoothness makes it harder to find the spray position. The finger grooves are too shallow for good feel. I must admit that sometimes the tab is half or even in the ready spray position when I put it up for the night but in years of carrying it I've never had an accidental pocket spray. So, it's a personal choice. Give both a try and find the one most comfortable for you.
