5.0 out of 5 stars Very effective

I have been in Ghana on the African continent for a week with the affectionately named “commander in chief”, the mosquitoes. I have used this product with every outdoor excursion. I have not had one mosquito bite and usually I get eaten up. I suffered in Mexico, Aruba and Turks and Caicos, so I am loving this product and will continue to use when I travel. Full disclosure, I avoided black and navy blue clothes, and I also utilized Insect Shield Premium Permethrin Spray Insect Repellent for Clothing, Gear, and Tents. I sprayed all my clothes one week before my trip. since it is so hot and I’m wearing shorts. I was sure to rub this creamy lotion, which does not have a strong smell on my arms, legs and any exposed areas

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest thing ever (and I’m only slightly exaggerating)

I’m that person in the group who gets eaten by mosquitos before anyone else even realizes there are mozzies buzzing around.

I’ve tried every DEET spray out there (smelling awful, and feeling greasy), I’ve tried Skin so Soft (smells lovely; doesn’t work), and probably every other repellent you can name. And while I’m sure they curbed the little suckers somewhat, they never repelled them completely and I would go outside for 10 minutes and old come inside with multiple mosquito bites.

Enter (queue angelic choir singing…) Sawyer’s Picaridin Insect Repellent. This stuff goes on like a light lotion without a greasy feel; it smells a little chemical-ish (well, it’s made of chemicals to repel the suckers, so … duh), but the smell isn’t bad at all, and it doesn’t linger.

The best part: since I started using it (a year ago), I haven’t had a SINGLE mosquito bite. Not one. It’s heaven!

I used to dread taking my dog out for her final walk of the night, but now? I shake the bottle, put a bit of the light creamy stuff in my hands and cover my exposed skin with it, and a minute later I’m out the door, letting pup sniff and wander around the yard to her heart’s content without worrying about being eaten alive.

The only downside (if it can be called that, because it has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the product) is that if you get your hand anywhere near your mouth before washing your hands it tastes pretty foul. But, hey, it’s not like you’re planning to do that right? (Neither was I, but I got a piece of hair in my mouth once, and … eeew.)

Bottom line? This product has saved summer for me. It’s the holy grail of insect repellent. Forget DEET, just get this stuff. I buy two at a time, and when I finish the first bottle, I order more because I will never be without it again.

I am one of those people who gets “eaten alive” by bugs ALL the time when outside. This product is better than anything else I’ve ever tried with NO awful smell. **Side note, DO NOT get near your lips/mouth as it tastes awful????????** Great buy for someone who wants to sit outside with friends and enjoy it. Now I can! ♥️♥️

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best I've Used!
Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2024
I've been using Sawyer Picaridin 14 Hour Lotion for almost a decade now. I use this when I fish my local streams and rivers which requires a bit of trailblazing or bushwhacking through woods, thickets, high grasses, weed patches, etc., to get to the fishing spots. I use the Picaridin Lotion to cover my face, head and neck areas (exposed skin). I always wear long pants and shirts that are thick enough nothing is biting through, but I do spray my clothing, hats and shoes/boots with Sawyer Permethrin which keeps anything (ticks) from jumping on and hitching a ride. Using this combo I rarely get bit by anything let alone bothered by anything flying around my face. You'll get a few here and there and maybe one skeeter bite, but if you get one bite with the product on, you would have gotten 20 or 25 bites without the product. I HAVE NOT had any tick bites while using both products. If I'm out past 8 hours I will reapply the lotion so I can't say if it will really last a full 14 hours. The Sawyer Picaridin AND the Sawyer Permethrin are my go to combo to keep all the nasty biters off me while I enjoy the outdoors. Cheers!

4.0 out of 5 stars No smell and seems very effective!

I hate using those stinky bug sprays. This goes on odorless and seems at least as effective. Doesn't seem to stain clothing. Just remember to wash your hands after applying. Seems to repel both flies and mosquitos for hours. Love this stuff.

I was looking for a repellant that didn't smell awful and that I could put on my face (mosquitoes like my temples and tops of my cheeks!), and I found it. It works *incredibly* well and doesn't spray all over the place because it's a lotion. It doesn't last 14 hours for me, more like 8, and I also wish it weren't quite as pricey + available in a larger size, but it's still the best repellant I've found.

My only caveat is that it will cause tiny little hard bumps/clogged pores on your face (not body)—at least it does for me, and I'm not blemish prone—especially when you add yard work heat and sweat to the picture, so if you need to use it on your face, do it sparingly and only on the areas you're usually bitten, and wash your face at first chance.

I have finally found a bug repellant lotion that has no foul odor, is non-greasy and does the job! This bug repellent is advertised as being a tick and mosquito repellent but it does so much more!
I work in my garden all summer long for hours on end and this stuff repels gnats and biting flys and spiders and basically anything that will land on you and try to bite! I do slather it on liberally and have gone thru several bottles of it this summer but it even repels chiggers! I have to say I also spread the lotion at my waist band and ankles and anywhere chiggers are noted to end up. It also lasts hours! I think the bottle says up to 14 hours. All I know is that it lasts morning to evening on me.

Nice smell & texture, amazing for insect repellent and it works. A friend & I slept in same room at beach. She used another repellent and got bitten up. I am usually a popular target for mosquitoes & got not one bite.
I wear super light cotton (weight worn in very hot climates like India) long sleeves & pants outside at sunset - great for neck, hands, ankles, feet, even face & I have sensitive skin
