If you want to open your windows in the warmer months, you'll need to take it off. Otherwise, sunlight and normal stress can also make the tape fail eventually. For a good seal, it's probably best to re-apply them every year.

Works wonders for old wooden single pane windows. My house if from 1930 or earlier and some of the windows are OLD. I used this on 2 old single pane windows and it took me about 30 min total (you're supposed to wait 10 after peeling tape to allow it to set) including wiping surfaces and trimming excess after done. I may have messed up in any number of combined following ways: 1-didnt clean/degrease surface thoroughly enough 2- didn't apply tape to a surface oriented ideally, or 3- over blow-dried and shrank to the point there was too much tension. I think this because on one of the windows I applied the kit to, the tape peeled off the bottom of the frame. I applied the tape to the horizontal surface which I'm guessing is the primary reason but since it didn't come up across the whole thing and only on the one window, I'm assuming the other 2 factors contributed. There is also a possibility of being mechanically impacted because it is behind an open frame style bed headboard and may have been bumped by a pillow. Whatever the cause, I crudely fixed it with masking tape since its not really visible. When the tape peeled off I noticed only because I could feel the cold air blowing through it and there was condensation forming on the room side of the plastic from getting so cold. Once repaired it was back to being wonderfully non drafty. I would even consider use in summer if you don't mind your blinds in a fixed position

Another note, there really is a fair amount of material. I was a little worried since my windows are abnormally large (common for age I suppose) but there was more than enough to work with. Im very satisfied with this product

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to Install!!!

I was very pleased to find a 3 pack for the price I bought this for, under $17). The size is perfect for my windows, and I appreciate that it is 3 separate sheets and not one long piece that I have to cut. The double sided tape was a breeze to use, the paper backing came off very easily vs other brands where it is a struggle. Film is easy to stretch, and position to get the perfect fit. It took less than 5 minutes for each window. Will buy this brand again!

This works well for cold winter months when you don’t want a cold draft blowing in from your windows. The only problem I had was removing the adhesive after winter was over. It can get pretty stuck on the window.

5.0 out of 5 stars You need this if you have leaky windows

We bought this last year and again this year for our cabin in Colorado. This makes a HUGE difference and is so easy to use. The double sided tape works on rough wood sills. We didn’t need to use the blow dryer as we got a good fit, but a dryer will quickly remove any wrinkles and you still have light and clear windows.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that easy to install as they say

It insulate the window as it supposed but:

The double side tape is not super sticky, I recommend to heat the surface of the window frame before for a better and easier job.
Only one person installing the clear plastic will have a lot of problems trying to make it good, for me it was impossible the take out the shrinks

The product is an absolute joke. I have few windows that still need replaced and bought this in hopes that it would at least help a little in the winter months. After cleaning off the windows, I removed the blinds and attempted to place the double-sided tape on the window, which was an absolute nightmare because it is barely adhesive. I gave it a chance thinking the heat would help once I put the thin layer of film up. I don’t know how they can call this any type of insulation though, because it’s barely as thick as the cling-wrap I have in my kitchen.

After placing this dreadful product on the window, I used a heat gun to tightly stretch the flimsily film and remove the wrinkles. However, the lowest setting of heat put a hole in the cheap plastic film, which defeats the entire purpose of this. After removing this and the tape, I made another attempt. This time I kept the heat gun further away, but this did not stretch the film.

After multiple attempts, I was unable to use the product as advertised. The weak film would either rip or not stretch and the double-sided tape could barely hold itself on the window. This is one of the worst products I have ever attempted to use, and the company should be embarrassed to put this on the market. I have two boxes of this imitation insulator kit that are going in the garbage. Thank you, Frost King, for wasting my time and stealing $34.76 from me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep the drafts out

I live in a building from the late 1800's. Brick, and, old windows. This keeps the place warm and free of drafts. I buy these every year. We keep the temp at 68 in the winter months and these plastic window covers help to keep that temp stable.
