5.0 out of 5 stars Is quality

This is the worst Dewalt product I've ever owned in my life. It's garbage it's junk I'm not paying to return a piece of garbage if you continue to do this. I will never deal with Amazon ever again. I'm not gonna pay for a product that doesn't work and you want me to pay to ship it back. This is the more than once that Amazon is done is to me and I won't do it anymore. Otherwise I won't deal with Amazon anymore. There's plenty of other companies to deal with.

4.0 out of 5 stars The good and the bad – I give it 3 1/2 stars

The good: 1. It seems to work. At least the extraneous bells, whistles, and lights went on every 16 inches. 2. It arrived quickly. 3. The price was acceptable. 4. It came with batteries.
The bad: 1. There are absolutely no written instructions, instead there are stupid icon drawings, which are totally unintelligible, and primarily address how to put in the battery, which I think I know how to do. 2. It is HIDEOUSLY OVERPACKAGED! You know, that plastic that can only be opened with a stick of dynamite or a razor sharp enough to cut your fingertips off? Or maybe a chainsaw? 3. That nasty big hunk of plastic is not recyclable. Really DeWalt? In this day and age? 4. I hate multi-language package inserts, especially those which tell you absolutely nothing. Four pages of warnings in 4 languages for those who have no idea of how to be careful. Basically a CYA for the mfr. 5. The back of the unit is hard, and since you’re swiping it along the wall, there’s a good chance you’re going to scratch your wall unless you are cautious.
We’ll see how my garage organization project comes along, and whether this actually helps me put up hangers on the studs beneath the drywall.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works but isn’t fancy.

Easy to use once we figured out how it works. It didn’t come with instructions. (Which sounds like “duh it finds studs”) However a lot of them work slightly different & wasn’t easy to initially figure out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn’t find the studs
Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2023
I misplaced my old stud finder and bought this one after looking at some different ones. I thought it was the right price point for a simple device, which is all I needed. But then it failed, repeatedly, to identify studs I knew were there—it found them one time, but not a second time, when I was testing out its accuracy and reliability. It told me there was a stud where there really wasn’t one, too. I marked it, was hanging a holder for my brooms, and thankfully I always use a small test drill bit first, to make sure the stud is where the device tells me. It wasn’t. I had to use a drywall anchor instead, which wasn’t my first choice; I was trying to place the hanger where it would have at least two studs, but thanks to this thing, there was only one in the middle instead of two at the ends like it told me.
If it’s going to be that inaccurate and useless, I may as well thump the wall with my fist like I did after losing my Stanley one. I don’t think any studfinders in my price range are going to be all that, but I was really disappointed that a DeWalt branded one was so lame. I love my DeWalt tools—batteries and tools are still doing great after >10 years—so I guess I expected more than I should have here. It was returned, and my old Stanley (which owns DeWalt now) was found and put back into service—just as inaccurately! (Sigh.) I’m back to thumping on the wall, or else unscrewing the outlet cover to figure out what side is attached to a stud.
