There was a video someone had posted saying it didn't work. It would be nice if the manufacture posted a "talking" video explaining how this type works. I didn't know before I bought it, but it was easy to figure it out. The person in the video evidently expected to coil to go out and retract when spinning the wheel, they didn't realize that it need to be pushed into the pipe and retracted manually and only spin it when it is obstructed. I almost canceled the order because of the video. Glad I didn't. it worked great! I spent more on drain cleaners that didn't work than I did on this product and it only took a few minutes.

 Pros: For a non-pro repair person this was very easy. It got everything out the first pass through. It unclogged a major blockage that I had tried everything on. Being able to add the drill strength on helped it to get the clog unstuck. The cord was long enough to go way back into my plumbing to reach the blockage where I couldn’t reach it with the smaller plastic versions. The gloves are a nice addition and were thicker than o thought they would be too.

Cons: My drain pipes had lots of twists and turns so at times it got kind of stuck coming out when pulling it out by hand. I found that if I put the drill back on while pulling it in the stuck areas it would release from being stuck. Also- this has nothing to do with the product, but I was not prepared for the gross smell of the blockage when it came out. Be prepared.

Overall amazing product and I should have bought this first instead of the hundreds of dollars I have spent in Draino and other chemical options.

Worked great and unclogged our shower drain. The snake goes down pretty far too.

Only drawback would be the gasket connecting the snake with the plastic apparatus. It’s a bit flimsy and even came off once, but easy enough to screw back in.

 It was a good purchased my sink was clogged that even I could not do it from the top so I needed to remove the P-trap and so far for the
first day it worked really well.

I like this style, I used to have one thah it was opened in the back, I was able to see the snake, but one time I could not put it back easily and I guess for the pressure the case got broken, but with this one it was very easy to get out and put it back, and it was good that I was able to use it with the drill too, and I feel the price is really good;

for me is already paid because even for one time ( but is nice that this tool is for more occasions,) I already save some money for the plumber, not only the saving in the town that I live is difficult to get a hold of one plumber, so even I am a female I needed to learn how to do this, but with this kind a tools I was able to get the job done and to save money, thanks!!!

To first use this you must pull out a length for the drain distance to clog. The spring material is very weak and does not get through any stoppage. If you apply more force, or try to use a power drill, the spring just bends. The longer you need to reach your clog the more bending and kinking happens. Upon pushing snake back into holder, the kinks just stay making the reloading near useless. Either spend more money to get a real tool or call a plumber, because that's what I had to do after purchasing this.

Update: The seller contacted me, saying they wanted to resolve this, and asked what I'd want. I replied that I'd update my review up from 2 stars if I received a replacement. It's an inexpensive product, and I don't expect it to be perfect. If I buy something that has a problem and the seller stands behind the product, I usually change that to a 5 star review, because I consider customer support at least as important as initial quality. In this case they offered a gift card for $20 (I paid $36.99 for this) but only if I deleted my review first. (I now know that asking a customer to delete a review violates Amazon policies.)

When I explained that $20 wouldn't cover the replacement cost (currently $31.97) they offered to increase the gift card to that amount, but still insisted I had to delete my review first. I've never had a seller offer to solve a problem only after an honest review was removed. I'd give it a positive review if they stood behind the product, but they're asking me to remove a review based on a promise that they'll stand behind it after that, and that seems really shady.

Further update: Now the seller is emailing and begging, fearing that my review will get them removed from Amazon, since it mentions how they've been trying to get a review removed, in violation of store policies. So they just increased the bribe, offering $50 to delete the review. I can't recommend the product, and the seller is dishonestly manipulating the reviews and ratings.

My original 2 star review:

The first time I used it this worked fine, and cleared the clog. I didn't find it necessary to connect a drill, but just cranked it by hand. The next time I took it out I found the metal of the snake had rusted every few feet. It seems water pools inside the spool and causes the rust. It still got the job done, and to prevent further rust I unwound the whole length and sprayed it off, then left it coiled outside the drum for weeks to dry fully. When I packed it away in the original box for storage, the bottom of the box broke open and dropped the contents less than three feet to the floor. The knob you use to crank the snake broke off. It's still usable, but only if you connect an electric drill.

So it's functional, but if you want it last, treat it like it's made of glass. But glass that rusts if you don't dry it thoroughly after use.

I had a difficult and deep clog, about 23 feet deep ????. But this got the gunk out quickly. In total it took about 15 minutes and 2 tries (first time using one of these!)

Our tub drain has been so slow for years. It has increasingly got worse over the past few months. I’ve tried Drain-O, and an electric high pressure plunger thing and neither have worked. So I finally decided to buy a snake as a last ditch effort to avoid a plumber. Well I’ll be damned! It worked! Takes a little bit of finesse and patience to get it in there but I made my way to the clog and was shocked at how much hair I pulled out! So gross! But my drain is flowing nicely now. No more showering in our own filthy water. Definitely recommend.
