    This does an excellent job of keeping our kitchen knives, safely sharp. No slipping. The knife cuts where you put it on a vegetable, after sharpening.

    I like that it has a quick, carbide draw sharpener for garden and rougher knives, or for repairing a damaged knife. The 1000 grip panel is the extra touch for good kitchen work and hunting knives. My pocket knife, which is a tool and used as such, is quickly brought back with just a few strokes on the 400 grit and 600 grit. A few swipes on the 1000 grit panel if it is the end of the day.

    This sharpener is NOT meant for sharpening scissors or shears, but if you understand what you are doing, it works great for that chore. If you haven’t been educated to know how different scissors need to be sharpened, don’t do it, you will ruin you scissors. This knife sharpener will not ruin them, you will.

    I pulled my neighbor’s hedge shears out of his garbage, spent 5 minutes with it, then set it by his garage door. Now, he loves it.

    This is not a, “no-brainer,” sharper. But, a no-brainer sharpener will not get a knife half as sharp as this will if you take 15 minutes to learn how to properly sharpen a knife. It is very reasonably priced, and safe to use. I will buy again

    Great for the price and they sharpen very well..that being said it’s best to have some idea of how to sharpen a knife otherwise these will serve you little purpose, as they require some technique to sharpen properly. They are really thin too which makes it hard to sharpen large handle knives or smaller knives. I will probably attach mine to a piece of wood to give me the clearance I need to comfortably sharpen a knife. And the non slip backing is the exact opposite and offers little to no slip control and the plates will move around a lot as you use them. But these are a lot more forgiving than an actual sharpening stone and being diamond they can sharpen ceramic knives as well. Overall very nice for the money

    Works well getting my knives sharp. Used them several times and still going strong. The grip mat on the back is kinda lacking but if you have a jig its great.

    I am going to use these instead of sandpaper on glass (the "scary sharp" method) as they provide the same or better quick means to clean up a chisel. The grits are not fine enough for a final edge except for maybe rough mortising work. Great price for a nice little product. It's not clear how long they will last but they make sharpening so easy that I aim to find out!

    Used these a few times now to sharpen a chisel and plane iron. I'm happy with the results. They cut well. Did not see any wear or deterioration of the plates. Quality is good.

    I bought these because I simply was not in the mood to spend $40 and up on the whetstone products I’ve been using for years. Frankly, I was curious and enjoy trying new stuff. Although I’m not disappointed exactly, I’m not doing a victory dance around the kitchen either.

    The stones do just fine and sharpen knives quickly with little fuss. Unlike other reviews, I do find differences in the grit markings, just perhaps not exactly in the order the manufactures seems to think.

    They are best for smaller knives, i.e. paring knives and utility knives. For larger chef knives, they are awkward. Flat-out wonky. The anti-skid pads are meh, especially for an 8” knife and my longer slicing knife.

    Yes, they may need some getting used to *and* they did sharpen my knives well. I do feel that for the price I received a decent product. Not an excellent product.

    In the future I will either purchase a more expensive diamond set or go back to a more “traditional” stone.

    I strongly recommend that you keep them dry or they will spot.

    Finally, neither a two star nor a four star rating from me would feel honest or fair. For now, they’re good enough. Time will tell. I spend a fair share of my work-life in a restaurant kitchen and sharp knives are a high-priority daily imperative. So three stars it is.

    I got these for sharpening knives and wood plane blades. it's a bit tough to sharpen knives, as the back pad does not keep the plate from sliding on the kitchen counter the should have used a more grippy material. It feels weird sharpening with something so thin when you are used to the thickness of a normal sharpening stone. It works good for wood plane blades with a rolling angle guide though, as the plates are wider than a standard stone. i just need to make a holder to keep the plates from sliding around.
